I'd love for Gaga to release album that'll get an 89 on metacritic

The standards for her are higher so don’t count on it :vegas:

literally reviews will read “a great album but we expect more from Gaga” or some sh*te :deadbanana:

she’s set such a high standard for herself that it’s reflected in poorer reviews it’ll always bug me

actually she did it this year too:billie:

Yes she did. Your point? Bc mine still stands. She’s proven she can do better countless times, therefore if she released something like FN it would be a massive downgrade from what she’s capable of. Just look on the poll at the amount of people who think the same thing.

The saddest part of it all is, although its a GREAT pop record, if Gaga were to put it out it would not have received that high of a score on metacritic..... music is music but the critics seem to use the persona of the artist to factor in their scores its stupid

In my opinion, the critics tend to hold Gaga to a higher pedestal and usually are there to find faults in her music. For some reason, Gaga always comes off as pretentious just because she takes different genres and inject it into pop music to make her tracks interesting. She's crafting it like art but in an abstract kinda way which is not immediately relatable to the general masses who are usually the kinds of people who consumes pop music. If Gaga wanted to do just pop, she'd do it like Katy.

The rare occasion she does something watered down for the masses is during the Joanne era to ASIB. All those kinds of music resonates with the general masses, that's why she's being loved again. I don't know where SL comes in tbh. It's a fun track but it's the kind of track that sits in the middle of an album, not a single type of track.

Completely agree. She's put in a box and it's unfair. I'm sorry but if Katy Perry put out BTW the album, she would have gotten such a high score on MC and even won grammys for it.... But since soooo much is expected of Gaga and she experiments so much, there will always be critics (and fans) who don't give her credit where it's due. No other artist could have released BTW. Meanwhile, I can name at least 5 artists that could have put out FN

It would be called Electric Devotion and then every time we shorten it to ED we don’t know if we were referring to erectile dysfunction or The Free Woman leak lyrics

This is the price of being highly talented.

This.

OT: I'm 100% certain that FN would have been panned if Gaga had released it. Critics tend to hold her to a higher, often more unrealistic standard than other pop girls and they would call it safe and reductive. Gaga has always put her own Gaga spin on pop music, which is a lot of what made her successful in the first place. It's also why she's never had a critically acclaimed album, she's polarizing and doesn't appeal to everyone 95% of the time.

Yet critics loved her song Stupid Love and gave it glowing reviews. Make up your mind.

The only songs on FN i can even imagine Gaga singing are Physical and Hallucinate. So...no I wouldn't be satisfied? But not because it's not a good album, it's just not a good Gaga album. Which i think has been said 235982 different ways.

FN is a good album with good songs and great visuals. However, it doesn't sound like a Gaga album at all and I don't have an opinion to vote on this poll.

Because they’re excited for PopGa’s return:vegas:

so maybe Chromatica will be her best reviewed album after all:vegas:

FN is not metaphorical enough to be a Gaga album and the themes (like generic relationship breakup)  is too cringey. It sounds uninspired for me if Gaga would release it.

But I mean, let's face it. Was Stupid Love not below her standards, what we expect from her? Maybe to her biggest fans, but to the general audience it's exactly what they do expect from her. And tbh it's going to reflect the sound of Chromatica. The album is going to have similar dance beats and dumbed down lyrics. So if critics are able to praise her music when it comes to that, perhaps they'll praise it if she made music like Dua Lipa. Because let's be honest, Stupid Love is not above the standards from Dua's singles.

It is not among her best by far but I still like it. It’s far from bad, it’s very good. I would be disappointed if the rest of the album was like that, yeah. But the only other three songs I’ve heard from the leaks all sound better so. Babylon sounds like nothing else out there today and something only Gaga would make right now, ROM sounds absolutely euphoric and powerful. Literally a slay to top telephone likely. and FW demo very 90s house with better and more meaningful lyrics than SL. The other songs she talked about in Paper Magazine interview seem to have more depth lyrically and thematically than SL. So no I think we can already say SL hasn’t set the highest bar for the album.

Thwack

I would actually be more pleased if she released something like Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Dedicated”
