And while we're on this topic, Gaga isn't winning with Chromatica either. It's dance music, that relies more on samples and beats. The voters will not consider that "real music".

In 30 years when all those older musicians who grew up with safe/traditional music die and are replaced with mondern younger voters, then we will see more progressive winners. It's already started with Childish Gambino winning with something I never thought possible.

True. They made a Latin Grammy’s award for Latin American artists, which is probably why those artists won’t be seen on the actual main Grammy’s show.

OT: I think the Grammys voting committee is out of touch and they have  more traditional preferences for what kind of music gets each of the awards.

I don’t think it’s racism, but it doesn’t “fit” the mold of what the Grammy’s are trying to present as the best song/album/artist that year.

K-Pop is Korean pop music, which is from an Asian country. They may not be all Asian artists, but they are Asian artists.

 

Oh, and here's the manufacture remark. You are not one who is seeing all the creative control of the artists. K-Pop artists do make their music, do their concepts and perform.

Btw i find this award argument so corny. Although i agree that they should be some form of equal repesentation of races and sexes,award shows are not an avenue for promoting societal equality. Its an avenue for awarding deserving  artist based on the academy's vote 

With the grammys, The artist are awarded purely based on the merit of the academy , no one knows what every individual member of the acadmys rationale was for voting for an artist. 

Although i agree they should definitely  be equal representation at the end of the day Its an award show.  5 women dont have to win just because 5 men won . And 5 black people dont have to win just because 5 white people won . 

At the end of the day this issue has been over-flogged  and trashed too many times and i believe  some improvement have been made over the years.

That's okay to happen, if in a certain year 70% of the awards were given to white men for example, this would be okay, kind of weird, but it could happen. It becomes a problem when every year the same 70% white men continue to win when there are really good music from other people who deserve it.

Equal representation does not mean it should all be 50/50, it means the work should talk by himself and be awarded for it's quality, have the same chances as any other body of work. But that's not what happens when year after year we have lots of minorities not being represented, or just getting an nomination or niche award as a way to say "Congratulations, you exist!"

In the last 10 years, 9 white artists won AOTY
