a. formula artists is a very simple way for western pop stans to criticise kpop artists whilst managing to completely ignore their artistic and creative ability

b. it is a race issue. kpop is a race-specific genre. attributing all of bts' success to the downfall of one direction is completely disregarding the commercial success and effort of bts themselves and saying that they're only famous because of some completely unrelated white men.

c. bts simply are not formula artists. that's an objective fact.

so do you think the companies that train, i mean, torture, them for excelence are a good thing? because you're consuming their product. is that intrinsic to the culture of the korean people? are their history rooted on that? if you think so then you're the one belittling it. To call someone racist for not liking K-Pop stan culture is the same as admitting you think that is the only thing that matters in the country.

i'm well aware that bts kinda took one of them companies out of bankrupcy, which would make their story more "organic" but since then what have they done? opened psychoterapy clinics? no, they're just doing the same as the other companies, maybe worse because of the success of the boys

+ Zayn is arabic so it shows your ignorance in calling them "white men", may i call you racist too?

The fact is a power vacuum happened in the western world and BTS filled the space, is that a fvcking bad thing? no it's not, it's just strategy, but you somehow read that as "i hate bts they're scum"

You can't be that innocent to think labels or companies do things spontaneously and without deliberate strategy, and one direction was the same sh¡t, simon cowell's label is just as bad as those agencies, and unfortunatelly people buy into that and call them idols, which is a title you should earn. And actually in that i think BTS is better than One Direction because they were just thrown together and told "or band or out of here" and everyone pretended they were best friends since childhood, ugh

they literally write their own lyrics, which are incredibly clever and a lot better than most lyrics that y'all praise to the heavens, they have incredibly intelligent lyrics and themes in their songs :triggered:

Aren't they like a hundred people tho, isn't it like 6252653663 basic western songwriters coming together to write something like... Stupid Love :air:

Stop being so dramatic, no one cares bout these  generic singers (even tho I don’t think they’re bad, but people who always tries to protect their fav makes the situation even worse).

i'm literally not being dramatic though, bts are incredible lyricists

they aren't generic, they have one or two generic songs and you clearly haven't listened to anything else, so your opinion is formed on a couple of individual songs that don't very fairly represent their entire discography

Sorry but I feel this video only talks about their sales and numbers. You could find a video that focuses on the aspects that fans love so much. Like their sincerity, work ethic and artistry. BTS stands out from the rest of Kpop by being the least manufactured group. Their albums do not contain fillers, and the quality in so much of their music is very rare amongst other idols. They sing about important topics like courage, hard work, respect for your parents, individuality, self love, etc. They also dabble is a wide range of musical genres.

Shitty artists don't become famous just because, so to all the haters out there, if you dig a little deeper, you'll see why they're successful.

oh i agree, i just feel like people see them as flops and only kept alive by the stans on twitter, when in fact they've had a much longer struggle and fight to seek commercial and critical success in the united states. i do agree that the video wasn't the best, but i feel like it did a pretty good job of explaining exactly how their career has developed from a commercial perspective.

I don’t listen to k-pop, I just can’t get into it but if they find success across the world, good for them. They probably worked hard for it so they should enjoy it.

And to the xenophobic racists who are so jaded by hate, I hope you will one day open your hearts and minds. Even if you don't like something, respect other people's tastes.

BTS fans love them for the very SAME reasons we love Gaga - meaningful lyrics, good quality music, stage presence and a sincere love for their craft.

firstly, with this whole 'bts only became popular because one direction stopped being popular' argument... just no. the serious marketing strategies employed by big hit entertainment began years before one direction split up, and the target audience for bts were very different to the target audience for one direction. one direction targeted 'the basic girls', it was a group that had a very simple teen crush image and had very little creative depth. bts is different, bts targets 'outsiders', they have lyrics about the struggles of youth and finding yourself, with a very creatively inspired artistic image. two completely different groups. simple.

secondly, whilst i very clearly understand the struggles of idols being trained and the cruel strategies employed by some companies (which kpop fan doesn't, it's forced down our throats every two seconds), it doesn't diminish the fact that they're a very independent group who create their own material. marketing strategy is employed by any western label too, it doesn't mean that western artists are manufactured. bts simply are not manufactured either.

and as a footnote, the term idol is one that's been used by korean media for decades, go back to the 90s and complain about its usage there if you have such a problem with it, you aren't gonna get people to stop saying it now, since it's a term used in everyday korean life.

precisely, people here don't seem to understand that they aren't just singers. they are artists.
