As some of you may remember, "Play Date" by Melanie Martinez had become viral on Tik Tok starring Timothée Chalamet -

Since then she had an interview with music blog idolator and she had this to say about it:
 

When did you find out that “Play Date” was starting to go viral?
A few days before my 25th birthday! It was a really special present from the universe. 

Were you surprised that a song from 2015 suddenly took off?
Incredibly surprised, but also so grateful [that] people are connecting with the song on this level. It’s exciting to see people discovering the Crybaby album for the first time and watching others resonate with it all over again. 

“Play Date” is one of your few songs without a visual… will you fix that?
I’m actually writing a music video right now and then going to gather the things necessary to make it and shoot it at home.

Britney with a new album cover for a 4 year old album and then today my sister was excited as she wanted to show me the “awesome new song” she just heard and she started playing Play Date

This, I really did think it was awesome that she made a movie for the album, but it REALLY ****ed up with the momentum. It almost needed to be released in 13 parts (ie. each music video separate). That way there was hype for each new part, and each song got it's own moment. That's why Crybaby worked so well; everyone wanted to see what the next video would be and in the end it connected the whole story. 

K-12 she released the whole movie, then released the separate music videos, but then no one was hyped for them because they just were from the movie, which everyone already saw 

I'm just bitter because Show and Tell NEEDED it's moment, and would have loved that music video being released by itself and everyone being slayed and then her performing live as the marionette. Or imagine Detention being released separately, and then everyone being slayed by her dancing  Okay, I need to stop. The era that never was

what a wrong management 

"Show and tell" needed to be released as the lead single before the project, then the album in september (just the songs), then like you said 13 seperate music videos 

one year later the re-edition "K-12: After School" with new songs + the full movie

Damn, that's actually a really good idea. Fingers crossed she hires you for promotion on MM3, cause the bitch wants to release a full movie again and I can't have another 1 month long era

I don’t get it. I just don’t. I mean, I love the song. I have always loved it. As a matter of a fact, it’s my favorite from the whole album. But is this really how youngsters are discovering good music nowadays? By TikTok? Like c’mon... 

Somehow this just makes me angry and I don’t know why.
