DontDoubtDavid 1,194
It better not be... With her first two albums she released the best songs first. But the last 3 (BTW, AP, and Joanne), she never released the best songs as singles.

Mister G 10,492
The song keeps fluctuating on iTunes Top 100. It shot up to 64 so as much as some of you hate the single, it’s not going away anytime soon.

Well I like the song, that last "I'm a free woman" she sings in the latest 2 seconds of the new snippet has gotten my hooked on it, but the rest of the song I still need to spend more time with. With Stupid Love I loved it INSTANTLY when I first heard it, something about it just clicks with me, I relate to Stupid Love on a very personal level

She was kinda forced to put it as a lead single. Gaga herself said that SL was always going to be the lead, months before it leaked

ChromaticRaccoon 1,761
I mean, you're jumping to conclusions here. IMO, the only time a single has been a favourite is Paparazzi Music is pretty subjective, and just because some people class the song as their favourite, doesn't mean it's that way for everyone. So, let's say 99 people said Stupid Love is the best from Chromatica, that doesn't mean it's gonna be your best song from Chromatica. I think we should all just wait for the album instead of making assumptions

You can't tell me Poker Face and Paparazzi aren't fan faves from The Fame, Bad Romance and Alejandro from TFM, Judas and TEOG from BTW, etc... I know you said something like this but I don't think it's about lead singles being the best, it's about fans loving the singles because they're singles. And these songs aren't objectively the best on the albums (not like you can objectively point out any song as the best but still). If you ask me there are a lot of album songs that are among the best in Gaga's repertoire and I expect that to be the same with Chromatica. Also, it's not like Gaga's choices when it comes to singles have been that good for her past couple of albums... I knew this would come up, there may be some truth to it, but I don't think it hold up. Because her fanbases is quick to say Speechless, Dance In The Dark and Schiesse are her best too despite not being singles but popular enough to be performed a lot. Everyone here LOVES Venus and Do What You Want but I don't think it's because they were released before ARTPOP because we heard a lot of songs performed live before them. This fan base doesn't gush over Manicure, Sexxx Dreams, Aura, Swine, ARTPOP, Dope as much as much as Venus and DWYW and Applause. And those songs had their chance to be listened too as much as her singles before the albums release. Venus is her most streamed non single ARTPOP song for a reason. With The Fame Monster, we didn't need it to be released first to know that it's the best. Or the impact it had. You just need to listen to the song to know this is a superior pop song. Also Born This Way claimed to save lives here. Judas is beloved more than Bloody Mary and Electric Chapel. The Edge of Glory is on par with Marry the Night in terms of likability. We can also agree that Million Reasons is one of her best ballads over the self titled song and A-Yo was the biggest bop on Joanne. This is the general consensus among her fanbase. You can replace the instrumental on each song it still works. I've listened to both songs like that. I enjoy Poker Face more. It means NOTHING Paparazzi and Brooklyn Night also have the exact same chord progression and yet they don't sound alike at all. And let's not talk about Shallow and Summerboy lol

None of the non singles on ARTPOP were experimental compared to the singles, they were all written to be hits. Joanne could also have any song released as a single. The Fame and The Fame Monster definitely.
KARMA 1,022
1 hour ago, DiskoBaby said: Great news if you really like the song. Not so great news if you're expecting the rest of the album to be better. But let me tell you why. Lady Gaga always releases her best songs first as lead singles or as promo singles. Just judging on what her fanbases likes the most from polls voting for her best songs over the years, to Twitter to how much her non singles are streamed, this fan base loves the songs she releases before her album cycles. Born This Way, Judas, The Edge of Glory are all the fan favorites on the album and what we consider to be some of her best. Applause, Venus, Do What You Want are the favorites from ARTPOP. Million Reasons and A-Yo are the favorites from Joanne. She kinda dropped the ball on Perfect Illusion. But plenty of fans are starting to defend it. The Fame is the exception, she saved the best singles for later. But we can all agree Just Dance is up there. And if we look at just her lead singles, Bad Romance, Born This Way, Applause are all considered top five in her discography. "But my favorite songs are *insert this random undercut*" and that might be nice, but every poll and list I see that asks fans to contribute their favorites, always goes back to her popular singles before the album's release. So if she decides to release promo singles and a second single before Chromatica, those songs and Stupid Love are what we're going to enjoy the most, what Gaga and her team consider to be the best to promote it. And if you think I'm wrong, I witnessed fans hoping Born This Way, Applause, Perfect Illusion would be the weakest songs. Stupid Love is going to define the sound on Chromatica just like Just Dance and Bad Romance defined the sound for The Fame/The Fame Monster, Born This Way defined half the album, Applause defined the whole ARTPOP's sound, A-Yo and Million Reasons did for Joanne. But that's your opinion tho, I think she has better songs in the album from the past. So we will see.
