It’s sad, coming from the man who did Take Care. After Views he went all in on quick little hits but I don’t know if he’ll have a strong legacy because of this. Kinda like what happened with Katy.

So now we’re celebrating the fall of another artist? Why? Because he’s straight? Because he’s popular? Because you dong like his genre of music? Because your fav could literally never reach his level of commercial success?

Y’all need therapy if seeing others fails really gives y’all that much joy tbh.

For me it’s the fact that his recent releases have been very mediocre and half assed. I’m glad that critics aren’t letting him get away on this one because he’s been getting away with getting praise for releasing the most bland, uninspiring, and lazy music I’ve ever heard:rip: Toosie Slide was just a cheap tactic to get a hit through Tik Tok, and the rest of the songs are super safe and nothing new.

Views was a really good album and was the last thing I enjoyed from him. But everything he’s been releasing after Views shows little to no growth and it’s annoying to see someone getting so much praise and acclaim over stuff that isn’t even impressive. I like Drake, but mostly his older stuff but he needs to show some sort of growth because this schtick isn’t interesting anymore and it’s annoying seeing mediocre material getting this much praise while pop girls have to scrape and struggle for at least a 6

I think a lot of people take issue with his history of being a culture vulture, hopping on whatever sound or lifestyle he thinks will keep him popular/interesting despite having no connection to that scene or culture. And the consistent at best immaturity, at worst misogyny of his lyrics. He's always reminded me of the type of guy who dates younger girls and is real creepy, controlling and manipulative.

Spoiler

"'Cause you're a good girl and you know it
You act so different around me
'Cause you're a good girl and you know it
I know exactly who you could be"

If a guy said this to me I'd block his number

Spoiler

"Cause ever since I left the city, you
Started wearing less and goin' out more
Glasses of champagne out on the dance floor
Hangin' with some girls I've never seen before

These days, all I do is
Wonder if you're bendin' over backwards for someone else
Wonder if you're rolling up a Backwoods for someone else
Doing things I taught you, gettin' nasty for someone else
You don't need no one else
You don't need nobody else, no
Why you never alone
Why you always touching road
Used to always stay at home, be a good girl
You was in the zone, yeah
You should just be yourself
Right now, you're someone else"

that ****'s creepy to me. This age old idea of "as a long as a woman is with me she's good and pure but as soon as she leaves me and gets with other men she's dirty, unclean, a w*ore, etc" and the belief that he knows women better than they know themselves. They couldn't possibly have wants needs or desires that don't involve him.

For me, it's more about the systems and ideas he upholds. It's celebrating the downfall of antiquated ideas and inauthenticity
