xoxo Craig 55,649
I said what I said Its what makes her stand out amongst the the other pop girls. You may or may not agree with me, but you can tell that Gaga is a jazz artist even from the beginning in her career. Jazz is off the cuff and all about showing off to a certain extent. You have your main melody of the song, but its upto the artists interpretation of that song and how they express (how they feel at that given time) that in a live performance. Many pop artists repeat the same performance over and over again, and if they are lucky, it will sound like the studio recording... even if they perform it on an instrument like a piano or a guitar. With Gaga, its different. Every performance of her songs means something different, especially in a piano setting. She isn't just sitting there singing Million Reasons, she's leading you through the performance telling us a story and adding little bits to it. What Gaga does is she incorporates her jazz roots into her pop music. She is using a popish style of singing as a opposed to the more classical jazzGa voice that she uses when she is doing a Jazz song... but she performs them like they are jazz songs. And there are many many more examples of this She encapsulates a story within each song and shares it with us everytime she sings, and each time is different. And its this that sets her apart from the rest. She might be giving us dance hits like Stupid Love and Applause, but when it comes to a piano performance, suddenly the song takes on a different meaning. She may even add bits to it. Its just her jazz roots coming through, loud and clear I do believe its a reason why she is so versatile and can literally do any genre she wants and excels in that. Jazz allows her to show off her theatrical skills too. And thats what makes her Lady Gaga. End Racism Now

Oriane 20,602
Yes. I started being a fan around 2010, and even then, I could see that she was much more than pop, and there was a lot of jazz, rock, etc in her. I still can't understand how some fans were surprised when she made C2C The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic! DiskoBaby 1,929
I want an original jazz album from her. Not a bunch of covers with Tony Bennet but a jazz album with original material. That would shake the pop world and jazz world up. If covers, a compilation of her singing her own songs in jazz versions would be nice too She also has a voice for theater too. Just imagine Gaga in Broadway on stage every night and winning Tony awards. I think that's what she originally wanted to be. A Broadway star acting and singing on a live stage. That's where Gaga really belongs.
Lisseth 427
I think Gaga can pull off any musical gender. Her voice is so different, she can express feeling, emotions in a very unique way. I would like to hear more jazz from her
NFRatwell 23,290
Hm. I don’t know about this one. I think at her core she’s a pop-rock piano ballad singer/songwriter. The songs she’s written alone (Speechless, Yoü and I, JAD) are examples. I think she’s a great jazz singer, and she obviously respects the genre very much, but it’s clear she kinda respects it so much that she’s hasn’t really been able to step into that world entirely in her career. I mean even in CTC she admitted she didn’t want to offend the genre with her original jazz work until she had it down 100%. Meanwhile she has no problems making and releasing the songs I mention. Basically she’s never grabbed Jazz by the neck and said “you’re my bitch now” and I know most jazz artists just sing standards but Gaga is a songwriter and we know she needs that artist door open to really shine through. But when she’s ready I’m going to support the shi out of that original jazz album.
