Even if you buy and stream Chromatica when it comes out, leaks hurt

I've seen an argument that "it's okay if I listen to leaks because I'll buy the album and stream it when it comes out".

The reason this is a flawed argument is because there is a limit to how much you will listen to a song. 

Everyone has had the experience of listening to a song on repeat when it first comes out, but then over time start to listen to it less and not at the same rate.

When a song leaks and you listen to it, you are having that first reaction to that song. That period of time when it will be played on repeat is used on the leak, not the official release.

If you had not listened to a leak, you are way more inclined to listen to the official release on repeat, but if you have already listened to the leak over and over again, you will not stream the song and album as much. This causes the songs and album to not do as well.

While I do not agree, there is an argument behind "I will only listen to it once". But, that is also flawed. The more people that listen, even if listened once, can in turn, make it so more people get the leak. And those people can stream the leak on repeat, and then they give it to people... and so on.

It shouldn't be a problem if she releases the album right after it leaks. Ofc if she does what she did with SL, sales are definitely gonna suffer. So that's why i hope it leaks on a wednesday or thursday so she can release it on friday . I feel like she's just waiting for a leak in order to release it tbh

But it's not her job to give in to hackers. Very rarely does the GP get ahold/look for leaks. The vast majority of people listening to leaks are the biggest fans of the artist. So, of all people, we should care about Gaga and not listen/spread leaks. The reason it suffers is because the people who would listen to it the most (in Gaga's case, Little Monsters) have already listened to it a lot.

I saw some fans saying they were bored of SL already once the song was officially released. These were fans who were praising the song when it leaked and saying she should release it now because it will hit number 1 and "I'll stream it all day every day. I love the song so much". But they dropped it almost immediately because they'd already played it to death. 

I already know that when Chromatica gets released 3 months won't even have passed before they're discussing LG7. 

Music these days is served like fast food. Gaga doesn't do music like that yet everybody is expecting her to this time.

leaks happen to nearly every artist -- with a few exceptions. there's the argument that leaks hurt gaga emotionally. but they hurt everyyy artist emotionally, i'm sure. to me, it would make more sense to capitalize on hype and take her power back THAT way. just release the music at this point to avoid more leaks -- whether it's her choice or the label's. and that's not me just being starved for new music. the 2020 music industry is different than 2009. move with the times henny

The only plausible problem with people listening to leaks are those who want her to shoot up the charts upon release. So whether you listen to a leak beforehand or after the song officially comes out, if a person is only going to listen to the song a certain amount of times anyway, does it matter?

Yeah, I want her to perform well commercially, sure, but for those who primarily care about the music itself, then leaks are irrelevant.

With gaga its not just about releasing music , theres always a conceptual idea behind it  an "era" if you may .stuff leaking does nothing but ruin that concept and therefor render the era messy especially when fans listen to it and give their opinion thereby ruining the fresh feel for other fans who dont want to indulge . Things dont mean as much as they are supposed to when fans get to see it hours or even weeks before its release 

Not to mention the fact that people  who listen to leaks have a hard time keeping it to themsleves for some reason
