Thats kinda my position on Bernie...too far left to get anything done... He has some good ideas but is kinda the opposite of Trump, he creates too much push back from the Dem's to be a good leader. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. Chromatican 4,046
The Trump admin moved the political needle so far right that now leftist are called extremists and Democrats are just corporate Republicans in blue.
BillieGOAT 5,272
This campaign is getting hard to watch.. from someone who tries to be as unbiased as possible when analyzing these kinds of things.. to me this reads as an identity crisis for his platform & a desperate move to appear to be the reach-across-the-aisle candidate. POP2 4,206
This isn’t a bad thing. Bipartisanship is needed in this country. Germany’s government works so well because it doesn’t work with partisanship - the parties have to work together.
TOSK 640
Not strange at all. During Obama's presidency, four Republicans served in Obama's Cabinet: Ray Lahood as Secretary of Transportation, Robert McDonald as Secretary of Veteran's Affairs, and Gates and Chuck Hagel as Secretaries of Defense. Fundraising is an important factor... centre-right donors have the most money by far. Making it more acceptable for GOP senators to support Democratic initiatives is another one, but if Democrats end up getting a majority in the Senate without the extra fundraising and without the swing voters this move brings, it will end up being useless. It also kind of destroys the narrative needed to defeat people like Susan Collins. How are Democrats going to convince Dem-leaning swing voters that everything attached to Trump is toxic if they attach themselves to the same type of people? Why would Biden raise the chances of leaks when he gets the presidency? There's virtually no country in the world where the right-wing aren't acting like insane fools. Getting effective change with a progressive majority means going just enough to the centre to get 51% of votes, not going all the way to 60%.

And the far right screamed 'liberal' at Obams... He made mistakes like any president, but he was far better than current leadership ... and better than Bush... Leadership is about getting people to follow, not shouting your ideas down everyone's throat and then claiming its what the majority wants...🤨 like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. Almost every President does this, yet GGD doesn't know that, so their natural instinct is to be outraged and call Biden a rEpUblIcAn. George W. Bush's Secretary of Transportation was a Democrat, yet I'm quite sure no one here would suggest Bush was actually a democrat. Carter, Kennedy, Clinton, and Roosevelt had Republicans in their cabinets. "You know, when I made a series of overtures to the Republicans — going over to meet with both Republican caucuses; you know, putting three Republicans in my Cabinet, something that is unprecedented; making sure that they were invited here to the White House to talk about the economic recovery plan — all those were not designed simply to get some short-term votes," Obama said. "They were designed to try to build up some trust over time. And I think that as I continue to make these overtures, over time hopefully that will be reciprocated."
