I’m not even surprised that Elon tweeted this. He tweeted something else before that threw people into a loop.

I will say that I don’t agree with reopening any state right now. Going out with just hand sanitizer and a face mask isn’t going to solve the issue. In March when all this was still fresh, I felt that people should try going back out around June or July. Social Distancing should stay in place when reopening. The whole country should act smart. Limit the amount of people into a business at one time. No dining-in in restaurants.

This whole situation is a completely losing situation for all people no matter who you are. All I can say is that nothing will be the same for a while.

I've said earlier "strong" democracies. Anyway, yea, Ive missed some countries who had similar lockdowns.

I totally get the fear of unemployment and the punch to the economy. I don’t think protesting going back to normal life is the answer though. Protesting in a safe and socially distanced fashion to get better compensation for people who have lost their jobs? Totally understand that! I just think risking another outbreak this early is extremely foolish and the definition of not thinking it’ll happen to them.

Seriously? This is very much a lockdown. Masks are mandatory, there’s legal punishment for being in groups, and anything that’s not considered essential is closed. I don’t agree with delivery, but when grocery stores that used to be open 24 hours are now only open for a limited amount of time, what’s a night shift worker or a nurse that works overtime supposed to do when their free time only occurs when everything is closed? Sometimes buying groceries isn’t even an option depending on when you wake up, when you work and when you get home because of these limited store hours. Here, there are more restaurants open at 10PM than grocery stores, so if you aren’t able to stock up on food, going out is the only way.

I really don’t get why they limited the hours of Wal-Mart so much. It just forces everyone to go within that limited amount of time and increases the likelihood of spreading the virus. I tend to like going to Wal-Mart after midnight because there’s little to no concentration of people, and if that were possible now, less people would be showing up in one smaller time period. It should be open most of the day with maybe a few hours of closing to properly disinfect everything. But now because of this stupid policy, social distancing is harder because I’m forced to get groceries at the same time as everyone else is forced to, which means more people are likely to spread the virus between each other.

My depression from all this has destroyed my sleep schedule as it has many others, so there are weeks I literally won’t even be awake while grocery stores are open, and am only up after they close. So if I didn’t stock up in time, a restaurant becomes a requirement for me to get food. This could be fixed, but someone’s work shifts can’t necessarily be changed, especially in these times.

There’s very few businesses here that are open. It’s certainly a lockdown.

It depends on which state. In my state, only essential businesses are open, masks are required in places of business, and people cannot congregate with anyone outside of the household with whom they're in quarantine (unless they're working at an essential business, where they're supposed to maintain physical distancing). Grocery stores have limited hours, and people must maintain physical distancing (and, as mentioned, wear masks). You can't eat in restaurants, only do carryout or delivery. Certain non-essential departments of big-box stores are closed, and of course malls, clothing stories, salons, dog groomers, gyms, etc. are all closed too. Our governor has recently allowed boating (but only with people from your household), golfing (but no golf carts) if maintaining social distancing, landscaping services, and now flooring, garden, and paint sections of big-box stores are allowed to be open (they were closed prior). All non-essential medical procedures are postponed, and I believe dentist offices are closed except in the case of emergencies (or at least, mine is). Camping is still not allowed, and I'm not sure about public beaches. Construction will resume in early May. 

Basically, if you're not an essential worker, other than staying at home, you can be outside on your own property; you can exercise outdoors if maintaining physical distancing; and you can go grocery shopping or pick up take-out. That's about it. 

It's not as drastic as China and isn't a true quarantine by any means. I can work from home anyway, so my life hasn't hugely been disrupted, but I miss being able to go places and see people, and I'd really like to get my dog groomed because I'm afraid of clipping her nails too short and cutting her and/or cutting her face by accident when trimming the hair by her eyes. However, I actually have no complaints compared to other people's situations.
