Isidro Guevara 821
Would it make more sense to people? ARTPOP as a concept can come off as very confusing to people and I think Gaga herself didn't know what to make of it. I'm pretty sure she had a great idea in mind at first but it became muddled after some time passed. To me, ARTPOP is like a "diary"of a celebrity, in this case, Gaga. Listen to it from start to finish and it makes sense. It's sort of like a time loop of a celebrity's life all in one album, starting with Aura and ending with Applause. It's an "insight" into a celebrity's life. It is a personal album talking from the celebrity's POV, though at a superficial level. I think bit would've made sense if the album was titled "Lady Gaga". What do you guys think? I'll WRECK U right Up...G.U.Y.!!!🌋💥
adorno 484
It should’ve been called VENUS in my opinion. I think Gaga had to completely change her initial concept for ARTPOP she envisioned. She tried to make it justice by extreme, artistic visuals but the music is in my opinion not what it was intended to Be in the first place. Guest
I can't consider this objectively. As a major BTW stan, if anything was self titled, I would want that to be. ARTPOP is a good album, but after BTW, I found it a huge disappointment. It took some time for me to grow to appreciate it, sonically, especially songs like Donatella and Mary Jane Holland, which are indeed bops, but aren't really the quality songs lyrically I grew to expect. I know Hair and Bad Kids have the same lyrical immaturity, but as a whole I felt the rest of the album was a more solid representation of her lyrical ability and musical genius than ARTPOP was. Especially with the changes to Swine from after the iTunes festival. But my point in this is to say that after The Fame Monster and Born This Way, ARTPOP being named Lady Gaga would have been disappointing because to me a self titled album is going to mentally check itself as a magnum opus. NFRatwell 23,290
Contextually it makes sense since she short of described the album like “Everyone’s trying to find out who’s the real Lady Gaga, what’s behind the aura? Well, this is me.” And then the album is kinda a journey inside of her mind creatively, where she really has no rules and no clear direction. It’s basically like, where does the Gaga train go if there is no track? Byt honestly, after the past 7 years, we all know she’s artistically much more than what she gave us with ARTPOP. I think if she truly tries to make an album showing the Gaga train off the tracks, it would be much more diverse at least sonically. So while calling it Lady Gaga in 2013 would’ve been cool, it kinda seems like it’d be weird to confine her musical abilities now to a 15 track primarily dance-pop album, you know? Like I think she could really pul something off bigger than what she did. Edit: Insert 30 track double disk album Lady and Gaga here, with collabs from Madonna, Rihanna, Tony, Iron Maiden, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Nicks... socotra 3,310
should've been called "The Aura" imo
Enzo 37,977
ARTPOP is the best title The track ARTPOP would be so weird then ksks 툭 까보면 어김없이 소리질러와
Glamourpuss 29,062
I think 'Aura'. ARTPOP would have been the best choice if the era had gone as planned.

It was hyped up to be something it just wasn't It felt like it needed another year production. I think the original ARTPOP was very un GP friendly and electronic She should have stuck with that and done visual MVs I think what we got was just an edm album. That's it. Nothing special Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight
TimisaMonster 31,073
Well even though I hate the album...I consider Joanne to be a self titled album...its her middle name and the songs were very "personal" and stripped down... Thing is, I consider Joanne (the album) to be about the girl behind "Lady Gaga", if that makes sense. ARTPOP is about Lady Gaga, the celebrity. littlepotter 75,147
This actually makes a lot of sense. I still would not let go of the name "ARTPOP" which just sounds majestic and is one of the most iconic things ever but I do think it would have made a lot more sense to people and been more accessible and approachable. Plus it would do away with all the "pretentious" accusations and those that claim it doesn't sound as conceptual as its title suggests. Self titled fits on SO well with songs like Aura, GUY, Sex Dreams, DWUW, Fashion!, Dope, Gypsy, Applause... literally what she's all about. AND imagine how iconic it would be for Beyonce to have released a self titled album a month later, "just like Gaga" in all those articles... damn. Now I really want ARTPOP to be named Gaga. chaeri pls

Exactly! The songs on AP is what Gaga, the celebrity, is all about! It's personal but superficial at the same time because it is about Gaga, not the girl behind Gaga. Aura is just teasing, first you gotta know what the celebrity is all about (ARTPOP) and then you can see the girl behind it (Joanne). LadyInsecto 366
ARTPOP is about the blank canvas and the colors you choose to paint it. Gaga is the blank canvas and she paints herself with the wigs and costumes to turn into characters, she is the artist and the art itself. Obviously, the music is the art too.
