Still can't believe that Madonna of all people didn't understand the concept of chord progression.

The chorus of BTW is very similar to the bridge (so if you want it right now better make him show you how) part of express yourself melodically. Its almost the exact same. HOWEVER, so many songs have similarities with eachother.

For example around that same time period dr luke literally make the same song several times between different artists not to mention a million other songs that are similar to eachother in some way.

That being said the way the media, madonna, and her team handled the situation was beyond uncalled for. I love Madonna and her music but 100% if she didnt have an album to promote at the time.... I think her reaction would have been different.:reductive:

Kind of off topic but does anyone know how Madonna was like, legally allowed to sing the express yourself/BTW mashup? She doesn’t own BTW but are you even allowed to cover a song like that and make money off it without the permission of the owner? Did Interscope sign off on it?

If I remember it, she had to pay for each time she did that mashup, and even though I hated that 'fight' and the way Madonna handled, I think it was fierce she was going that far on it lol

edit: and in the credits of the MDNA Tour, she didn't even put Born This Way on it

Fernando Garibay signed over the rights for the mashup because he was the lead song writer and didn't need Gaga's permission to do so. That was the main reason the two had a big falling out.

Born This Way still does not sound like Express Yourself to me. At all. I will never understand the similarities some people find. People are reaching, imo.

Thank God I’m not alone. I literally don’t hear the similarities. But everyone seemed to think they are similar.

Does it matter? Damage is done
