Pop albums got sh*t on all the time by critics in the early 2010s because everything was a carbon copy of each other, the same chord progressions, the same big choruses, the same pool of producers making every single hit. Pop music has gotten better, the genre isn't popular enough anymore for people to just put out half baked albums and secure themselves hits, they need to work for it, and it's coming out with better results Also the fact that critics tend to just ignore albums they don't feel deserve reviews these days. I don’t think the quality of pop music is enough to account for the change in average scores. Recent ok-ish albums by Selena, Halsey, Harry Styles, Zayn, Camila Cabello, and others have equal or better scores than Gaga’s masterpieces like TFM or BTW. Pop music has gotten better than what it was in the early 2010s, that’s true, but I think what has changed more than that is critics’ perception. Truly outstanding and genre defining albums from that “bad” era are stuck with 60-70 scores, while now your average, bland and bloated album from a random nobody gets at least a 65. That’s why I think that Gaga’s scores are lower than they should be, it’s because her albums came out in an era that wasn’t friendly to pop music and they got lumped with all the generic trash at the time, and her commercial success set such expectations that critics were extra hard on her, while now it seems like all your album has to do is not be terrible to get a 70. I think that the new pop-friendly landscape and her new, less controversial image will work in her favor. All Chromatica has to do is be decent, and I believe it will get a good score. Literally she runned bacj then for all the new girls to walk now... she has millions reasons to deserve the acclaim she was denied in the past. a-yo! at the end of the day all she ever wanted was love
gagzus 15,830
Critics hold gaga’s personal life against her, I remember Born This Way getting a 0 because the person didn’t like her personally and nothing to do with the music, I also remember people mentioning meat dresses and crap when reviewing it. I think it sounds like it’s deserving of a low 80 so far but realistically unless she’s making ballads ala ASIB I can’t see her pop albums getting more than 75 sadly
not Chromatica 5,393
I'm feeling a 75-78. The critics always find something to tear her apart for. I'd like it to get a 90 just so it could sit above FN, that'd be a gag.
Creyk 17,805
If Fiona Apple could get a 100 there is no reason for Gaga not to, since she is way more talented and artistic than her.

Hades 27,980
I'd say 75 given her past releases but who knows? We still know nothing about the record.
