Is Gaga on Madonna & Britney’s level in terms of Pop Royalty/ Legend?

I think the real question is, does it matter?

The music industry is ever changing, new artists are constantly popping up and old artists are suddenly not as popular anymore. I think it takes a lot of impact to survive the change of generations. I went to school with a girl who didn't even know who madonna was, and this was only two-ish years ago. How many kids today really know who the beetles are? How many kids know who Cher is? No matter how big an artist is, eventually they tend to become forgotten. There are obviously some artists that will never go away, MJ and Queen for example. One day there will be kids who don't know any madonna songs, or Gaga songs. That's just how art works. I'm hoping Gaga becomes on of the legendary artists that can survive that generational change, I mean I'm certainly gonna be forcing my kids to love her.

So my point is isn't shouldn't matter how popular an artist is, how high their career goes, because eventually they'll become someone that a lot of people don't know about, so just enjoy her music while you have it.

According to Wikipedia, The artists who have officialy been called "Queen Of Pop" by critics and media are

Madonna (out of question of course)

Kylie Minogue

Mariah Carey

Whitney Houston

Janet Jackson

Britney Spears

Lady Gaga

and Taylor Swift

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honorific_nicknames_in_popular_music

And while i do think Taylor's status is questionable, because she crossed over not even 10 years ago, her impact is undeniable.

Britney is not on the same level as Madonna in terms of legend status. She neither has the same longevity, talent, voice nor impact. Madonna may not have Adele’s vocal capability, but she revolutionized the music industry and she did things in time when all this activism, empowerment and sexual expression were considered huge taboos, compared to today where everyone who wants a bit of 15 mins of fame and praise, will say a few keywords about women and LGBT and then pretend to donate and that’s that.

But that’s not to say Britney isn’t an icon, of course she is. Just not comparable to Madonna. I feel like a two decades from now, whether Gaga, Madonna, Britney are still singing or not, alive or not, people will still look at them as some of the very remarkable figures in music, with Madonna being a huge inspiration to so many artists.

Not too sure on the critically acclaimed part. Her albums aren't exactly marvels on metacritic, nor does she have a Ray of Light. Agree to everything else pretty much. But Madonna is mega talented too. But Gaga ticks more boxes I guess. She can act and sing 5x better at least

Gaga has a star is born (album) w nich scored ktoś od awards and great reviews

She's one of the biggest but I'm sure in 20 years she will be maybe one of the names that represents the staple of the 21st century. What differentiates between her and others is that she has the talent to back up the commercial success.

Gimme More

the delusion in this thread..

but i'm sure Lady Gaga is on her way to becoming an icon, also I find it disgusting how some of you try and belittle the achievements of Madonna and Britney, the impact they had on music is INSANE.

I think we need to categorize these...

TALENT - Gaga
POP ICON - Gaga, Madonna, Britney
BUSINESS - Madonna, Britney
LONGEVITY - Madonna

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

I loooooove Britney but, honest question, is she on the same level as Madonna and Gaga? pls dont hate me, she just seem so out of it, no sales, no nothing, ive been checking up on her obsessively lately and impact is nowhere to be found and it really surprises me because i am shook at some of her work, like Toxic, Gimme More, Scream n Shout

I hope you used Scream and Shout as a bad example of shook :poot:

Well Gaga is an Oscar-Grammy-Bafta-GoldenGlobe-CriticsChoice winner (as a songwriter and actress) who can sing and act.

So,NO.

Madonna and Britany are not on her level.

She's surpassed Britney, but will have to prove more longevity (possibly by decades) in the GP's eyes to be seen on the same level as Madonna.
