She's not more talented than Gaga, lol. Dua is talented, but not near Gaga's level. However, I love listening to her music. She deserves all the success she gets, and this is coming from someone who doesn't stan her :vegas:

I did not say she is more talented than Gaga it was a mistake that i clarify before oopsie

Not people using this as a way to discredit her incredible talent :air:

She has a gorgeous vocal tone, is able to use her voice properly, is stunning to look at, writes on every single one of her songs (and is always the lead song writer), has a clear artist vision, serves great visuals, consistently getting better at dancing, working on her stage presence and getting better with each performance (for the most part). She deserves and earned her success. If her label is also showing signs that they want to aid bolster her success even more and have helped in the past then why is that a bad thing? That is precisely why artists sign on to record labels. It's to help them reach new heights in a trade for money and percentages of their earning.

I too however agree with some members here who said they don't like the tone this label exec used. He makes it sound like she is their creation and that they can mold her whatever way they want so as it ensure her success. From what I gathered with Dua via her many interviews and reading about her...she really hustled during her debut era and really did most things on her own. I mean who moves to a whole other country alone from your parents at the age of 15 to pursue their dream? She did. She literally left Kosovo at age 15 to live in the UK after living in Kosovo for 5 years and convinced her parents to go at it alone because they couldnt come. She went knocking to every record label's door, worked on tons of demos (which many became singles and album tracks for her debut album) etc..etc..etc..she earned her place and this label needs ot understand she would have probably made it with another label as well. They are a great source of aid for her and have been incredible with her but they better not get it twisted. She is NOT their creation. She chose to join them.

I cried a little. That was beautiful. Thank you. Thank you.

She's talented, but ugh at the way this exec it talking about her. He's basically acting like she's their creation, as some of you pointed out, and it sounds like he's implying payola. I suspect they'll do a huge PR blitz like they did with Bille.

Let her grow organically and she'll start to smash outside the UK. Honestly, a juicy tabloid story would help her (look at how the Bieb thing has given Selena a boost in press).

Keep in mind that Gaga’s label was the same in 2009-2011. They invested huge amounts of money to make her the biggest artist in the world, to make BTW the biggest album of the year etc.

Just because the label spends a lot of money on the artist doesn’t mean their brand is about making money. Both Gaga and Dua released incredibly inspired and creative work while they had huge financial backing.

That's very arguable.

And we all know how Gaga felt in 2009-11. That's why I made my comment, I am more than aware of how investing in the music business works. I'm pretty sure poor Dua is pressured and is probably reaching to unhealthy coping mechanisms, just like Gaga did 10 years ago.

Bad Kids

but then if there's a huge drop, then it'll be embarassing

And when you say my name, like white horses on the waves, I think it feels the same, as an ocean in my veins.

She did grow organically. It took years for her to grow to ho massive she is. I saw her live for $20 at a club three years ago.

And she IS smashing outside the UK. She’s literally the hottest female pop star in the world right now.

She’s chilling at home playing video games and having sex with her boyfriend while her album is smashing effortlessly

She needs to release an album that isn't 90% filler first. I felt so much excitement for FN based off the singles but it definitely didn't live up to the hype.

Lol... I think you need to clean your hears honey. I agree it has a couple of fillers, but that’s about 10% of the album. The rest are solid very well produced pop bops!

I also find it very surprising that Gaga’s fanbase is so hostile and negative towards other female pop stars, as if some fans are jealous of other female pop stars being successful and somehow think that they are only allowed to enjoy music by one female popstar. I’m a huge Lady Gaga fan, but I can recognise good pop music when I hear it. Dua Lipa’s both albums are very relevant in today’s pop music scene, they are original and well produced. She has managed to carve a space in the pop landscape and she has a sound that is very unique to her. Her voice and music are instantly recognisable. Personally I think she will go far.

Dua is one of my favs, but in the US, at least, there is no way she is the "hottest female pop star" unless we're counting pop stars who have released music in the last six months. COVID-19 impacted her sales, but even then they were pretty weak...she's definitely a way, way bigger deal in Europe. DSN was the exception, not the rule, when you look at her album sales and other singles. Again, I love Dua but Halsey (more on her level as a not quite established pop star yet like Ariana) is a bigger name in the US based on sales/charts & arguably media exposure.

I think the great critical buzz for Future Nostalgia  & the success of DSN will help her when it comes time to promote her next album and she'll smash hardcore in the US.
