Not The Real Gaga 7,599
I think Sweden's approach might be the best one. Lockdowns will badly damage our economies, which means for the long term: less welfare, more cuts on health care budgets and thus - probably - more deaths. Lord Temptation 11,209
In Sweden, 40% of the households are just one person living by themselves. It just sounds like a very selfish, stubborn, and lonely society.
OMF 3,689
I think Sweden’s approach is selfish and discriminates against elderly ppl and those with serious health conditions. Over 2,000 died, mostly through aged care facilities, and they consider that as collateral damage basically. I prefer for countries to make attempts in keeping all their people safe and not play Russian roulette with theirs lives.

At the end of the day, it's hard to accuse their government of those things when their deaths per capita is in the same range as most countries with lockdowns. I strongly disagree and that’s just my opinion. They had no way of knowing if this would have worked. They gambled with peoples lives. Also Sweden had a population of just over 10 million people. I’m comparison Australia has a population of 26 million and only 80 deaths and could have been less if it wasn’t for one of the cruise ships which was allowed to dock and let all its passengers get off board. I believe if you care about your people you take measures to ensure minimum losses.
Mr Ricky 9,089
In the end, the population has to go back to before the virus. We just CAN'T sit in house for the whole year. It's NOT going to work. Economy will affect all of us and not just companies. Crossfit
BenG 19,908
Cases and deaths per capita are both higher than its neighbours. You can't compare to other European countries because the population distribution is completely different, so per capita is not a meaningful measure. Sweden can with other European countries. When you compare it with Norway, it looks bad. When you compare it with UK or Netherlands, it looks good, especially since the economic effects will be smaller. Comparasions in general are premature, because the strategy of Sweden should mean that they will get "herd immunity" next month, so their future deaths should be smaller. Population density, air pollution, age distribution etc are important factors. Even with the same way of counting deaths, comparing per capita across the board is less meaningful than just against its neighbours, which presumably will have much smaller differences in those factors. Taide 5,789
Finland should've done the same. But instead we chose a path that will destroy our economy for good and make our taxes (that are already one of the highest in the world) rise, so they can damage control all the billions of euro's we've lost. There is currently no evidence of long term antibodies being developed after an infection. There are also multiple strains of SARS-CoV-2.

Kulture Kiari 3,433
Honestly, I dont see this working in my country (USA) because they are very ignorant and irresponsible. My family follows social distancing rules because I get major panic attacks. I'm sort of like a germaphobe, so even before this whole social distancing rule happened, they've always learn to stay a distance from me and pretty much adopted that rule everywhere they go to anyone because of me. But people in public are completely different and I literally hate going grocery shopping because of this, and it is even worse now. Stores have LITERALLY PLACED TAPE/STICKERS ON THE FLOOR to have people social distance and know where to stand in line. Its something so simple and people still wont follow the rules. My anxiety kicks in when someone stands literally close to the point that I can feel their breath on my neck. I kindly asked them if they can please follow the rules and point to the tapes/stickers on the floor. They just laugh and say "Calm down princess, this disease is fake. The government is just fuccing with us again." I get even more angry when they begin to cough. Like c'mon now, even with or without this virus, people should still respect personal space. So yeah, this wont work in the USA 🙄
