Did The GP Like Marry The Night?

I'm talking about the song itself.

We know the song underperformed but do you personally know or witnessed people (besides Gaga fans) who liked the song?

When I first listened to it I wasn't amazed but in awe, the intro was so haunting, the melancholy nature of it was hypnotyzing but overall it didn't stick with me at first, though it did remain unforgettable. It gave me a sad but nostalgic feeling. It is my favorite song ever now by any artist!

Do you remember or know of people actually enjoying the song when it was released?

It’s one of Gaga’s best songs. That whole last minute breakdown is one of the best things I’ve heard in my life.

But, it wasn’t a good single choice. I think it’s too good for the GP if that makes sense. It’s a little to complicated for them to admire, so unfortunately it never really took off.

From what I remember, my friends and family didn’t necessarily hate it. They were just tired of hearing her name, so the song kinda faded

My very straight cousin and his friend liked it? I remember we all watched the Grammy nominations concert together and they were bopping and singing it the next day haha Music Video Mv GIF by Lady Gaga

I don't think the GP was hungry for something like Marry The Night, but it's a great pop song. I think something more like Scheiße would have gone more popular :poot:

(Also, bring it on Scheiße haters :triggered:)

I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.

I don't think the problem is the song .. it just the GP wasn't there for gaga at that time of her career.

It's one of the greatest gaga's song btw .

MTN is a cultural phenomenon. It’s amazing, incredible and show-stopping. Much better than (Rotten) Teeth :huntyga:

it would have been a HUGE SMASH but was released at a time when even BAD ROMANCE would have flopped

Gaga really wanted the song to smash! She was passionate about it! If only it took Judas place as a single! Imagine a MTN video with Judas budget! Telekinetic Ice Queen destroying a ghost town and blowing up cars!!!💥💥💥

From the top of my head, the performances from the single cycle:

- The one with the confessionary on X Factor
- The ballerina one on Ellen
- The hospital gown one on a japanese show
- The junkyard scavenger one on Grammy Nominations
- The one in that event with Karl Lagerfeld (marrí te nite, never divorce)
- The one with the moon and her butt on EMA
- The one where she looks like Madonna for BBC
- The performance from her Thanksgiving show
- The one with a giant bow on Alan Carr (this one I had to look up because I only remembered vaguely)

Edit: just found out she performed MTN at the New Year's Eve too (and later on there's this performance on a private wedding)

So yeah, the GP HAD to like MTN.

I think the song would've been perceived better if it wasn't released as a single at that time. I think with MTN mv this whole "We're overfed of Gaga" mentality of the GP, that would eventually lead to the mess called ARTPOP era, started.

Ew, David!

Yes they do. Almost everyone I know (who knows the song like it). The underperformance of the single was a case of Gaga being overexposed and the GP being fed up of anything Gaga.

Does it matter? Damage is done

It should have been the 2nd single pre-release of the album (in order to save the momentum for TEOG as the 3rd).

If it had a nice short MV with professional guidance, the GP would bring it to Top5. Although most people I know like it, it is considered loud for the radio + it came to a moment when the GP went totally anti-Gaga (Adele's rise, a turn to more simplistic songs eg. somebody that I used to know).
