i'm just wondering if this thing could have been going around since late november/ early december. cause in late november, i caught a cold that had me short of breath at times (very mildly) and i had a lingering cough that lasted 1.5 months. i have never in my life responded to a cold that way. i've often wondered.... plus i live in hawaii and a lot of tourists come here from china.

edit:

also the lingering cough wasn't just a little cough here and there... it was a continuous hacking that really lasted that long and did not gradually die off over time, but kind of disappeared over the span of the last week or so. there were times (a month into that cough) that i'd get into coughing fits so bad that i had to quickly go lie down because i could not take in any breath and i thought i was gonna suffocate to death lol.

I saw a mini-documentary about HIV and how about many cases were confirmed in retrospect by anaysing DNA samples of people that died many years before the epidemic started officially.. I'm sure the same will happen with the coronavirus.

It's so creepy to think that the virus was possibly circulating around the world even from December.

Oh wow I'm in San Jose :bradley:

I know everyone always talks about how sick they got this last flu season and it is freaky to think about because I was developing pneumonia in January. I was sick for almost 4 weeks I never got tested for anything. They diagnosed me with bronchitis/pneumonia from just listening to my chest since I went to a cheap clinic. I’ve never had a respiratory illness before, it was the first time for me. I’ve never been more miserable I couldn’t breathe and had such a high fever I almost was hospitalized. Constant coughing I will never forget it.

OMG the same for me. I was not very sick itself but the cough was horrible till the point there was blood in the mucus. Definitely the worst I've ever had.

HIV lays dormant for years or even decades before progressing into AIDS. It started spreading in the US in the early 70s and in the early 80s the first signiicant influx of AIDS patients in NYC happened. Virus got from Congo to Haiti, and from Haiti to NYC.

It's a completely different situation.

We got the first officially confirmed case from China in December merely days after the phase one trade deal was signed. Ironically, one of the clauses in the trade deal had that no party would have to commit to it should there be an act of God such as pandemics. Taiwan knew, if i'm not mistaken correct me if i'm wrong, about a very bad flu in Wuhan since the ending of November. If Taiwan knew about a very bad flu in Wuhan, then the Chinese definitely knew what this flu was and refused to say anything. So it's not surprising that the timeline of when the first COVID 19 death was in the US is earlier than documented.

I don't think you understand what I meant.

I said that they are similar in the sense that the first cases if these epidemics were unkown and death classified as something else but discovered later.

Decades from now could be discovered that the first cases of this virus happened in July or August but were treated as pneumonia. There are doctors that say that the virus might have possibily started in October already.

I know I have been saying that for the last few days it's just difficult finding a site and one that is affordable. I have no clue how most people have been getting the anti-body test.

Not saying I had this virus but something really odd that had never happened to me ever happened in early February. For 2 weeks I felt like absolute sh*t. I was FATIGUED out of nowhere. I also felt like I had a VERY MILD fever for days and felt something in my throat. The fatigue was the only uncomfortable symptom. But I had never experienced that before. Idk if it was a bad cold, or a mild flu, or something.
