KatieJudasGaga4 67,907
Two cats in New York have been infected with the novel coronavirus, federal officials announced Wednesday. Both had mild respiratory symptoms and are expected to make a full recovery. The two cats were tested after they showed respiratory symptoms, according to the agencies, and they join the ranks of a lion and a tiger in New York who were previously confirmed to be infected. https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/22/health/cats-new-york-coronavirus-trnd/index.html

Eighteen 5,430
was it on GGD that read that this ability of the virus to be transferred relatively easily between species opens up a wider possibility of mutations occurring

Morphine Prince 109,729
The agencies emphasized that there is no evidence pets play a role in spreading coronavirus in the United States. "There is no justification in taking measures against companion animals that may compromise their welfare," they said. Important ^^^
gagzus 23,610
it's a zootropic virus anyway isn't it? meaning it started because we got it from an animal (a bat) so therefore we can give it back to animals. But poor single onlyfans gays are OVER if their damn pets start getting it from their hookups
Venus Rose 5,638
Oh no! That's so sad. If the cats we're able to catch it, does that mean that someone in the home also has it? Can the cats spread it? That's so scary.

Chromatican 4,046
This is scary. I heard about a tiger getting it too, so it must be easy to transmit to felines.

"Felines also appear to be able to pass the virus to each other through respiratory transmission, Zhigao Bu, PhD, of Harbin Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Harbin, China, and colleagues wrote in Science." https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/85860 "Here, we investigated the susceptibility of ferrets and animals in close contact with humans to SARS-CoV-2. We found that SARS-CoV-2 replicates poorly in dogs, pigs, chickens, and ducks, but ferrets and cats are permissive to infection. We found experimentally that cats are susceptible to airborne infection." Looks like it's bad for ferrets, too. https://science.sciencemag.org/content/early/2020/04/07/science.abb7015 Stand in the light, cast your shadow. B2theRich33 2,239
So I just had to put my cat and my dog down in the past two weeks (two separate households, two separate states) but both of them over the course of the last month developed severe upper respiratory infections. Unfortunately due to their already weakened immune systems both were not expected to make a full recovery. It was never confirmed if they in fact had it but the vets said they wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
