Pelosi was literally just having fun from what I can gather. She has to shelter in place like literally everyone else. It's a fridge, people. They exist.

Also, I'm pretty sure if she could help solve hunger in America right now, she would. But the virus is more poweful than anything on the planet

What I don’t understand is this ad is obviously supposed to rile up republicans....i.e. the same ppl who say “if you’re rich it’s thru hard work good for you”. technically this shouldn’t be a problem for them, unless they’re hypocrites :lolly:

Her having money doesn't bother me. Make an ad about delaying impeachment until it was too late and making the scope of the proceedings not even 1% of his crimes. Make it about failing to meet the magnitude of our moment.

Income inequality and rich people existing aren’t the same problem. Funny how Republicans always seem to run to the economic left in generals :madge:

I can't stand Pelosi, but this is ridiculously overblown & I'm annoyed by left wing accounts blowing up a Republican, right-wing ad. Anyway, if people got their sh*t together and found a viable, Katie Porter esque candidate (Shadid Buttar is not it) Nancy could finally be beaten in a primary....but the left keeps cannibalizing each other because it's a jungle primary and/or consolidates behind a candidate who has no chance in h*ll.

Sis you know d*mn well the Republicans aren't on the economic left & they don't even really run that way...they just paint people as "elites." I mean, Bernie Sanders, Doug Jones, Warner, and Blumenthal have a bill that's far more left than anything the GOP has proposed, and those guys span the spectrum from centrist to leftist.

It’s what she deserves (though the ad kinda sucks 😂) I honestly don’t understand why anyone supports Pelosi. She proposed legislation on January 31st to stop Trump from enacting the travel ban which was meant to prevent COVID-19 from spreading. She also refused to put a supplemental funding bill on the floor that would’ve gave 2.5 billion to the CDC for testing etc & instead had everyone voting on flavored tobacco. I’m not a Trump supporter but I’m also not gonna gloss over what she’s done in all this just because she’s a democrat.

Pelosi and Dems are trying to protect small businesses and families and Republicans only care about rigging elections and supporting large corporations.

Suddenly stanning a UBI, caring about income inequality, and wanting to bring the jobs back to the US are progressive left economic proposals. I said ran bc we all know it’s not all true, but yeah wbk no party all thinks the same. Trump is gonna use it in the election debates tho... and Biden who supported NAFTA would’nt be able to fight back.

actually, from what i read, it was a response to trump putting restrictions on travel from african countries in january. but still, perhaps ill-timed in retrospect:

GOP leaders call on Pelosi to pull travel ban bill over coronavirus:

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/486825-gop-leaders-call-on-pelosi-to-pull-travel-ban-bill-over-coronavirus (end of article):

"The No Ban Act aims to rein in Trump’s ability to “suspend or restrict aliens from entering the United States” and limit the administration from putting in place similar bans in the future. It also includes language that would prevent “religious discrimination in various immigration-related decisions, such as whether to issue an immigrant or non-immigrant visa, with certain exceptions.”

Trump issued the initial travel ban on seven majority-Muslim countries in 2017, which was met with strong pushback from Democrats, who argued it was discriminatory and unconstitutional, and faced a series of legal challenges. He then expanded it earlier this year to include Nigeria, Eritrea, Tanzania, Sudan, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar."
