Anyone else turned off by the kindness vibe?

I certainly agree with her message. In many ways she has helped inspire and teach me the importance of being kind to myself when it feels impossible, so I can be kind to others. And I understand where she is coming from. I think if she wasn’t doing more ‘concrete’ work like raising tons of money that will go towards resources that will help improve people’s lives, I would feel differently. Because if all you are doing is telling people to be kind to themselves and others, that’s very problematic. People need actual resources.

I love the fact that she has always preached self acceptance and kindness from day one, but it definitely feels forced and cringy now. It’s almost like what happened with RuPaul, preaching love in earlier seasons but now it just feels like the same 3 lines get repeated over and over disguised as a preaching monologue.

Back then it even fit her brand as a popstar because she was provocative while still having something of value to say, loud and in your face. A thigh high booted, huge blonde ponytailed, larger than life character with horns on her face talking about the power of self love and kindness is much more meaningful and impactful than your aunt asking you to “be nice” while forcing herself to cry.

Nope. She can talk about kindness where, when and all she wants. In fact I think the message is finally reaching further, I think people that don't follow her career or even pay attention to her music are catching up with her message, with her waiting to do something good, something to help... Be it mental health or simply be kind. 

So I guess I know about that side of her for quite some time. But I feel that she is reaching further, getting the attention of different kinds of people, at least that's what I'm observing these days. So I'm very appreciative of all the be kind message and all the mental health talk.

How can "social justice for all" be a bad thing in any way?  If that’s a misinterpretation to you, then I hope it gets misinterpreted.

Same goes for open-mindedness. I don’t see why it would be wrong to have the boundaries of your open-mindedness be challenged and expanded to include more people and ideas. As long as those ideas aren’t hurtful or disrespectful to other people, there is no such thing as being "too open-minded".

OT: I agree with most of what’s been said in this thread I guess? There’s nothing wrong with the intention, of course, but it’s true that it’s starting to feel a little scripted, because she hasn’t really expanded on the idea yet. But I don’t mind her talking about it a lot, I still believe it’s an important message!

there’s just a massive difference between releasing a music video for born this way that features people being themselves and dressing up super cool and celebrating themselves vs gaga going on multiple interviews telling people to be kind

Y'know yes it does feel contrived sometimes when she reads rehearsed messages of kindness in promo videos and stuff lol so I choose to focus on the music and tune out all this stuff/messaging, becuase while it's well intended it's also kinda 1 dimensional. Well, there 2 dimensions to Gaga: discussing fame, and discussing kindness lol. at least she's consistent!
