Why Gaga didn't perform her own songs

She didn't sing her songs because she didn't want to make this event the Lady Gaga show. She has enough songs she can use for this event (Come to Mama, Million Reasons, Shallow, Stupid Love, etc.), but she didn't because she didn't want this to be about her. Hence, why she sang a new version of The Prayer with a lot of other stars. It's a genuine message of unity and collaboration.

I'm so happy she didn't play her own songs. It would be uncouth if she did since she organized the event.  

Besides those covers are heavenly. Classicga is what she resorts to during tributes. I like that this initiative is received differently than the Imagine YT video that was made earlier. The whole tone of the event was light, thankful, informative, and acknowledging what people have been feeling from anxiety, stress, worry. The event is a success.

She has BTW, come to mama, angel down, speechless, the cure and more. She could have done a song if her own if she wanted to I just think she likes doing covers and showing her range.

I wouldn’t say she’s ashamed or hates her discography. However, if there is something she feels the need to ‘hide’ it’s definitely her being ‘Gaga’.

In the beginning of her career she embraced it all, the Stefani and the Gaga, as one. Now it seems like she puts her heels on when she needs to be a superhero but retires her when she needs to be ‘serious’. I don’t think she should’ve gone ‘Gaga’ at the recent concert btw, I’m generally speaking. But after ARTPOP it seemed like she wanted to disassociated from ‘Gaga’ as much as possible and only bring her out to ‘work’.

If that makes her more comfortable and happy, that’s cool. At this point I’m just curious to see if she’ll go back to being ‘Gaga’ in public for Chromatica, or just serve visuals in photo shoots/videos. I’ve always been under the impression she’s afraid to show up as fully Gaga to the public as opposed to before.

In the 2 hour broadcast, pretty much no one sang their own songs. The pre-show, which she was NOT part of, is where people sang their own songs. She clearly didn’t want to make it look like a show advertising her, since she was the one who had a huge part in creating it.

So u guess Willie, John legend, and others that didn't sing their own songs don't like their discography's... Make it make sense... It's just that type of event where it makes sense to do a cover of some really nice song... It's not the first and it will definitely not be that last time she does it for events of this type

Gaga does major televised performances of covers of classic songs, in addition to her own music because she loves music. She also has a wide range of musical interests so she can show that off. She also is very smart and selective with her televised choices. Singing with Celine Dion, John Legend and Andrea Bocelli is definitely a milestone in her career. It's also interesting that for the covers she only does one major televised performance of and let's that performance speak for itself in that one moment in time and live on through the internet. 

Gaga has breezed through so many achievements over the years it takes a moment to step back and realize that she has accomplished in a little over 10 years what take most decades of work to accomplish.
