Why Gaga didn't perform her own songs

Some singers in the "One World Together" event sang their own songs, like Jessie J, Kesha, Ellie Goulding and others. Gaga instead sang 2 covers. Surely they were 2 beautiful, meaningful songs, with a message of hope, and I realized that Gaga has no such songs in her discography. If Gaga had a song like Smile, she would have sang that. Instead when it comes to important occasions, she always hides her songs, as if she is ashamed of them. And actually it wouldn't have been appropriate to sing Poker Face or Telephone at such an event.

 

Do you think she actually wants to write songs more meaningful, but she is afraid of how they would be perceived by fans who want pop / dance songs instead?

Or maybe she just doesn't have a song that would be appropriate for the event. I couldn't imagine her singing Bad Romance or Stupid Love.

There you have your answer then It's not like she doesn't have meaningful songs either. She has Come To Mama, Born This Way, Angel Down. I don't think she would mind writing more meaningful songs in the future.

Or maybe she just likes to show her range. And dip her toes in other songs whenever a good opportunity arise. I believe she likes the music she puts out it’s not like she’s forced to do so . The statement “Gaga hates her discography” is a bit dramatic

An acoustic version of "Road To Love" from Born This Way maybe could work but yes she lacks songs suitable for an event like that.

Gaga literally didn't sing anything about her because she doesn't want all the attention of the event ON her. She had the chance to promote her latest single but she didn't because she considers self-promoting on a situation like this a bit too tone-deaf. I think that was obvious?

I think that she really wants is to do adult contemporary music aka Elton, Celine, Paul McCartney, etc. but something is stopping her and hence on such events she performs mainly covers or acoustic songs, it's always been like that

I feel that she's proud of her discography however it's obvious that she wants to switch genres (I'm not saying this as a bad thing)
