That seems really high :air:

Is it as difficult to become a citizen in Canada as it is in the US? Can the government not simply allow them to become citizens and then file for aide?

Whimsical bitch

we really gonna start getting pressed w the word “illegal”, which is legal terminology?

I mean legal terminology is also "alien" and "handicapped" yet we hardly call people those. :selena:

There was a time when "retarded" and "idiot" were actual medical terms. They aren't anymore. But there was a time when people had stopped using it but it was still in medical books. Language changes as society evolves.

Canada's immigration system for permanent residence (equivalent of green card) is easier than the US' for those who are applying based on merit, scholarship, and qualification. You get points based on how many degrees you have, etc. and if you get enough points, you're eligible.

Now obviously this is not going to be the option for undocumented immigrants because they often work entry-level jobs and lack education or the resources needed to pursue education. They will have to apply through some refugee program which I'm not familiar with.

In the US, both the qualification/work based and the refugee based systems suck. Canada's is much better for people who apply in that category.

@Economy I love you sis, but please change title, having no legal status does not define those people, it's not okay to qualify them as 'illegals'.

Back on topic, we are talking about devoted people who only hoped for a better life for them and their children, it's not a crime. This is time we show show humanity and solidarity towards each other

I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.

But also, it's similar in the US. There's a lot of undocumented people whose jobs shut down and have no way to pay rent, or are running out of funds soon and have no way to pay for it. In California, the governor signed a separate relief package for them if they need it, but in many states there's not much they can do.

Well, it is a known fact undocumented citizen will have a hard life everywhere they go, since they are not their new country's responsibility. Be it Canada, USA, somewhere in Europe, or Asia, and so on.
