How can people be so different in the US Because in the US we’re raised in a culture of rugged individualism so being told what to do makes idiot people act out. Then related to that people think that they know more than experts and another culture of anti-intellectualism makes it so things like Fox News and liars like Alex Jones can thrive. But it doesn’t just end with conservatives, Oprah is the one who gave people like Dr Oz, anti-vaxxers, and Dr Phil major platforms and they’re whack jobs. Basically it’s the US culture where they take the very reasonable idea to be skeptical of things you’re told but apply that to everything and anything even if and when there is proof to substantiate points (like science) that’s a problem. Like at least for y’all the healthcare debate is coming from trying to *preserve* the national health service while in the US it’s debating whether or not that’s pinko or not.
