Gaga spent 2 years of her life putting together this album so I think she should be able to decide when to release it. It obviously meant a lot to her to do the full promo because for her, album cycles including interviews, appearances and street outfits are all part of the "art project" for Gaga to the point that her personality changes between cycles. Think about Coachella - even preparing for that with new interludes, choreo and set would have taken huge amounts of work.

Now I do agree that releasing music out into the world will spread "joy" for a while because people are going through hard times, but Gaga is always about delivering the entire "art project".

Also, she is giving us an iconic moment in history this Saturday. Let's be patient because when it all comes, we are going to get the full package and it will be amazing!!

Strongly disagree. Trump should open the economy now!

Yeah because the economy is way more important than human lives lol

I know right? It's like, the only thing to get people through is just music? I'm wondering what else do they do in their daily life at home other than just music. Honestly, I've been listening to so much old stuff (like past albums I haven't listened to) that it doesn't bother me that Gaga isn't releasing music at this time.

But then again, I also live in a place where we're not really under lockdown, just encouraged not to go out unnecessarily. So I can't comprehend those who have been under lockdown for months. I just had a four day weekend holiday where I just literally stayed home the entire weekend. Time passed so quickly when all I do is clean my room, watch Netflix and listen to albums that has already been out. I feel like, if I'm under lockdown, I'd be exploring so much more music and movies that I won't have time to discover otherwise.

Anyway, I just wish people don't take it so personally when an artist isn't releasing any new music. Dua didn't even want to release her album. But she was practically forced by her label and the fact that her entire album was leaked in full quality. Releasing it was a business decision. Not that she wants her fans to have something to bop to under quarantine.

Yeah, I totally agree with this. People here argue that the best thing right now is to release music, it's not like there's no music available for us to enjoy. Music is an industry. Yes, maybe it's a lame excuse calling it 'tone dead' but it's his project so let him be.

People who want music out are those who think about their interests and not the artists'.

I want music as much as you guys but think about the potential of commercial failure, underperformance, fading into oblivion of great tracks that took years to make. These songs would have otherwise been sung and celebrated if the news had room for music. People's attention ARE on coronavirus, and don't give me that 'music heals' argument. Music heals your psychological health, not physical health, and there are plenty of ways to do that, like developing a hobby, listening to previous music, watching movies, exercising, talking with friends (over the internet), etc.

The real concrete damage is underperformance and having your hard work just fade into nonexistence. And that is something artists face, not us, which so many of you have blatantly ignored because they do not affect you. Besides, they're not saying they're not going to release them. They are just waiting for the right moment, whereas the effects of the underperformance can never be rectified ever again.

So why not just wait for a couple of more months, and enjoy whatever music history has given you in the past, before we take the full experience?

Thank you!

People who say 'music brings us joy' 'music heals' fail to recognise that there are other ways of doing it too. Chromatica or any other new releases WILL still come, but why must it come now?

Sis you’re making too much logical sense. People here don’t tolerate that.

Gaga has already done so much for this problematic so... She has the moral authority to release Chromatica in May-June ;3

He’s right. No one is paying attention to anything like new releases. Plus, there aren’t opportunities for promotion, performances, etc.

The album seems like it will have dark themes, etc. That may prove to be a problem, during this time and recovery period. Timing is everything, and this album might be the wrong album at the wrong time. We will see...

The whole point of the music industry is to make MONEY just like any other job. You can claim authenticity all you want but in the end, the more money you make the more power you have in your career and the more the record label will promote your decisions. So yes he makes a lot of sense, some of you just don’t want to accept that this is a business.

What's with you guys and music? Is music really the only thing you guys can turn to?

That really sorta sucks.

Anyways, it's up to every individual artist to decide whether or not to release, and there are arguments on both sides. And ignoring whatever argument the other side has so you can be happy says more about you than anything else.

Personally? I don't care if anyone releases music. I have a book catalogue larger than the library of Alexandria.

And I still need to catch up on Night Vale.

Meanwhile if you go to iTunes right now there are a handful of artists releasing music including well known names like Demi & Sam Smith. But alright. And we’re not talking about releasing this moment. Clearly that ship sailed for Gaga. 50% of commenters on this thread didn’t even see my question which was: Would this logic still apply to Gaga assuming she releases in June? A week ago everyone was all excited for the June release and now all of the sudden she’d be the devil if she releases in two months when things are on the path to getting better and after she raised almost 100 million dollars for the pandemic. Make it make sense :saladga:

People keep forgetting it's a business we're talking about here. :smh: There ain't no record label that's gonna let some of their biggest artists release long anticipated records during a worldwide pandemic. People in charge of things like that would sell their souls for a bag of money and here y'all are talking about music healing your bored asses. :rip:

Nobody cares you got nothing better to do.

I disagree, Nightwish's album that came out last Friday has been the only thing keeping me sane RN. Its the first time in weeks that I've thought about something other than the pandemic. It has given me a place to escape to.

Maybe if you only care about sales and charts it's tone deaf, but fans need art to escape to. Now more than ever. I don't blame artists for pushing back their releases necessarily, but I think he is the one sounding tone deaf. Its not ridiculous to give your fans some escapism.
