Makes sense, I guess.

I've changed my phones multiple times and have weighed Apple phones with others and I've always found Android phones to be better because they pack a lot of features at half or lesser than half of Apple prices. I'd never spend $400+ on a phone with features that I can get for maximum $250. Personal opinion, obviously.

If you're a user that changes phones frequently, Apple prices can be steep. However, if you are the type to use it till the end of life, iPhones are very reasonably priced. You get iOS updates for a minimum of 5 years and a couple more for security updates thereafter.

Beyond dated look. I’ll be sticking with my 12 Pro. I wasn’t expecting anything g worthwhile for the announcement.

If you're a Pro user, you are not the target audience anyway.

Aren't we supposed to avoid non-essential purchases? :ohwell:

Let's not cry on Apple's fate, please, they're more than fine :laughga: They can survive without an iPhone release during the worst of the pandemic.

Buying an iPhone is considered an 'essential purchase' nowadays... lmao

Oh yeah, definitely. Their price points are the biggest problem I have with them, especially for those who change their phones frequently, but otherwise I agree. They do have some of the finest hardware in the market.

I just can't use a phone for more than 2 years at a stretch :billie:

Pro phone user is a made up marketing term by Apple. The Pro is the phone that is most sleek with the thinnest profile, smallest bezels and has the best cameras.

Apple makes cheap phones like the SE and XR to have lower price points with compromises in design and functionality.

For a device that I used every single day and can’t see myself living without, I actually see huge value in a new device.  I rarely use my computer outside of work stuff and most of my entertainment and communication is through my phone.

This phone has a great processor that even the current $1000 devices have. Plus it’s easy to pay monthly to your carrier and they don’t charge any interest.

It seems odd to release new devices given the times, but telecommunication companies are still open including cell phone carriers.

These more affordable devices are released around tax refund time (they usually offer older models for prepaid customers around this time of year).

I can see ppl who are taking on Uber Eats and other courier app jobs would benefit from a good performance device at a affordable (for an iPhone) price.

I'm happy with my iPhone XS forever tbh never gonna upgrade

Yeah, iPhone XR is their best phone yet hands down, perfect camera quality and a good price, but I’m probably gonna upgrade to iPhone 12 or 13 or sum later anyways if it’s good

XR was the best iPhone for money when it was released. Now it's the 11.

In 2020 I feel like iPhones or any other smartphone/gadget is essential during these crazy times, it's the only way we can stay in touch with loved ones and friends. I understand it is a weird time to be releasing any product (or album) during these times but smartphones are an essential item and there will be people who need new devices who cannot afford or simply do not want to pay 600+ for a new phone, but still want the apple ecosystem they know and love. I ain't saying Apple's a saint for releasing a cheaper iPhone, but I do think it will be a really great thing for those who need it. Also I understand the concern of non-essential purchases and what not, but companies need to continue making money to pay their employees. Plus most of apple's manufacturing is in China, which from my understanding is making great strides in going back to normal amid all of this.

Most people get their phone delivered hun. I get it's kinda non-essential, but it's being on the 24th, that's a while away yet and the pandemic seems to be slowing down. A new phone could keep people in doors too. Not every business needs to be shutdown. The economy would crumble in so many ways. Apple have also donated millions to other organisations & are working with Google apparently, on a contact tracing app. They're doing so much more than other companies, let them release the goddamn phone 😂 Acting like they're sat and done nothing.

You do realize Apple is banking billions, right? They definitely needed a new phone asap to stay afloat.

Also it seems like an amazing phone for a lot of people! I know a lot of people with 6/7/8 or the first gen SE who have not updated because they are not interested in Face ID or losing their home button so it will be the perfect phone for them! And the A13 is the fasted processor on the market currently!

Jeez stop complaining. Did you donate Gaga 10m? Are you working with Google to harness the power of mobile technology to fight a global pandemic?

That's called sustaining a business hun. And I can assure you they're not the only phone company releasing phones during this pandemic. Pretty sure Samsung released their latest flagship like a couple weeks ago?
