FfFfFfFF 56,572
6 years ago on this day, the lead single of Lana Del Rey's Ultraviolence was released. The song received acclaim from contemporary music critics which compared it to a "a slice of retro heaven". The song was a departure from Born to Die's easy-on-the-ears, softer and sleeker style to a more heavy, psychedelic and surf rock inspired sound. Curiously, the tempo changes everytime the song reaches the chorus, from approximately 123 beats per minute to 50. What is your opinion on the song? Do you remember it actually being released, back in 2014? Was it a good choice for the lead?

Melmoth 361
I still remember the first time I listened to it, I was so shocked when I heard that the chorus had a slower pace. I instantly fell in love with the song, it was so different from everything I had ever listened to!

Sestri Levante 1,076
An iconic Lana song, from an iconic album I remember going on a road-trip shortly after Ultraviolence was released and that was the only album I played
Sneaky Oliver 22,254
I do remember the day it was released and how shocked I was by the song structure. I love the alternative version as well. And it’s still my favorite Lana song (it snatched Ride’s wig back then)
Miichael 1,166
This song is so quintessentially Lana and such a good choice as lead single and the tempo change is so amazing. One of my favourite songs from the album honestly Born This Way Ball - 20/6/12 | artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball - 30/8/14 | LA To The Moon Tour - 2/4/2018
PSYCHOSHTICK 2,906
This is one of my favourite songs of all songs ever, probably in my top 5, same goes for the album. The music video, the song, it's all who I am. That Hedi Slimane in California vibe. I remember the release so vividly, the days beforehand, the way I didn't like it at the first listen and loved it right after. Underrated AF. I wish she would collab with Dan again, though it will never happen again. Thanks for reminding me!
Salvador Sequea 813
In my Top 5 of Lana Songs, this is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard. Like you can literally feel like the coolest person in the world just by listening to it, doesn't matter if you're driving or washing your dishes. GreekGod 1,085
Great song, but can we appreciate the album Ultraviolence while we are at it? its synths and rock themed atmoshphere and lyrics and music videos and whole concept of the album were so dope. It’s my favorite Lana album, and damn it aged like gold and screams quality. Artistically it is superior to Born to Die.
