What the hell is going on at 2:15  I’ve never really understood why people like Diplo though, all of his projects just seem so bland

imo he's a producer capable of doing really good things, but the point is thtat between his solo works, the collab projects like Jack U, Major Lazer etc and her word producing for other artist he puts out so much stuff, most of it is just meh. Nowhere close being my favourite producer but I feel he would still have a better reputation if he put out less stuff but only the best one. Same with particularly major lazer, they have put some 10/10 tracks but also a lot of mediocre and plain bad music.

Eh I don’t know if it has to do with the quantity of work he’s putting necessarily. It seems to happen whenever producers get really successful, all their work just gets boring because they’re making it for radio now or something—Calvin Harris, the Chainsmokers, Zedd, Marshmello, Kygo, etc. Their older work used to be more interesting, and now they’re just working with whatever pop artists to put out a shiny radio hit

ohhh we could argue a lot about that, but thats not the topic of the thread. Anyw ways, I think it has to do since at some point last year he was releasing literally a track per week, and it's impossible to finish properly a track every seven days, specially shilw touring and stuff. My opinion regarding this is that commercial music doesnt have to be bad per se, there are a lot of objectively commercial dance tracks which have great production and overall are good songs.
