BetrayedSTAN

I came to a point where i literally transcended being a stan .. i mean i don't care anymore whether she decided to release it today, tomorrow, or in 2050 it's her album and she can release it whatever she wants to ..

Still exited for new music .. but life is too short to care that much .

But if music is one of the few things that takes your mind off of what's going on, why not explore new artists? You'll get to listen to something new and you might like it. You never know, you might find an artist you'll be interested in.

Of course I'm listening to other artists. I don't just listen to Gaga! Haha.

I'm just saying I find the insinuation that "now isn't the time for music because millions are suffering" quite condescending...considering there are many people, like myself, who use music as therapy.

And if we used the logic of "millions are suffering now isn't the time" then nothing would ever get done because there's never a time when people aren't suffering somewhere in the world.

I do think what Gaga is doing right now, raising money for the people who need it most, is actually helping more than releasing music. She just raised 95m dollars to help find cures for the virus and donated to organizations who supports those families who are in need of equipment and food.

Gaga can't help everyone's suffering, thats impossible. But, she is helping big time. She wants to entertain others by having a home music festival for everyone to watch and maybe those people who watch may think in a more positive light than what they are experiencing now. They don't have to spend a penny, and Gaga isn't asking for any donations. Gaga is helping in the best way she can and I do think Gaga wants to put her music aside to focus on what's really important.

I don't think either extreme toward her is healthy – that is, the people who rag on her for delaying Chromatica or not promoting Stupid Love enough, but also the people who shut down any constructive criticism of her work.

Fans aren't entitled to anything Gaga-related (beyond their feelings and opinions of course) unless they've paid for it. For example, if you pre-ordered Chromatica, you're entitled to receiving the album, but that doesn't mean she can't postpone the release, and if for some reason she doesn't release it, obviously you'd be entitled to a refund. If you bought a concert ticket, you're entitled to your seat for that concert on that date, and if the concert is cancelled, you're entitled to a refund; if it's postponed, I believe you're entitled to a refund if the new date doesn't work for you. If you bought a Meet & Greet, you're entitled to a M&G with her (be aware it's just an overpriced photo op and there's scant actual meeting involved). And so on.

She's also entitled to make whatever choices she wants in her professional and personal life. We may disagree with some of them, but they're her choices. I think it's fine to discuss them, particularly her career choices, on a forum such as this, but we needn't belittle her in the process. There's no reason to attack her appearance, her friends, etc.

But the fan-celebrity relationship is symbiotic. Without fans, there'd be no celebrities. Gaga would be fine financial-wise if she never sold another album, and that wouldn't take away from her accomplishments or her talent. Yet obviously, she needs people to buy or stream her music and to fill theatres and stadiums when she goes on tour if she wants to continue to be a pop star.

I think she made the right move by postponing Chromatica, but I understand and respect the feelings of those who are disappointed in this delay. At the end of the day, however, it's her choice to make, even if we disagree. I'm sure she and her team did not make this decision lightly, and they are privy to information we are not. Maybe she wants to roll out the album when things are more settled so she can do proper promo; maybe she wants to wait because it feels distasteful to promote an album when people are dying and suffering mentally, financially, and physically; maybe she wants to focus her attention on helping to get things under control; maybe she herself isn't doing well mentally because of the pandemic and isn't up to the promo; maybe she had no say in it and it was her label's decision – we can argue and speculate, but at the end of the day, we just don't know what's going on behind the scenes. People are entitled to debate whether this was a good move, people are entitled to feel disappointmed (I've certainly been disappointed by Gaga-related things), but we don't have to attack her and her team because we disagree with it, and we shouldn't expect her to bear the burden of our total happiness.

And yes, she is extremely privileged, and this pandemic is highlighting that privilege. However, unlike many celebrities, she has emphasized on multiple occasions that she is aware of her privilege and that not everyone is in the same situation as her. I remember when she performed for that One America event a couple of years ago how she gazed out into the audience and made a remark about how ironic it was that people in attendance were all dressed up while so many people were suffering. She may be privileged, but she is aware, and she is trying to help those who are not as fortunate as she is. Maybe she is not helping in the way you wish she would, but she's doing what she thinks is best.

I know that for some of you, having a new album from her was something you were really looking forward to, and you'd hoped it would get you through this challenging time. Trust me, I know how painful it is to have something like that taken away from you. I hope you can find comfort in revisiting her old songs and performances, or maybe in someone else's music. Myself, I've been listening to a lot of classical, which is very soothing. For you, it might be another genre. I've also been listening to lots of nostalgic songs from when I was younger. The album will come, but in the meantime, I hope you find something that brings you solace.

Any discussion about the Gaga's shift in attitude or behavior must begin with one about the shift in attitude and behavior of the fan base. It's one thing to criticize a song you don't like, or give an honest but respectful opinion on an album or tour; no one expects you to love all of her discography or performances. It's quite another thing to criticize her simply for the sake of criticizing her, which is something I ironically see a lot of on here for a site dedicated to her. Is she a perfect artist? Of course not. There are songs of hers I don't like as much as the next person. But if you're going to insist on tearing her down and attacking her no matter what she does, which song she releases, which look she has on in a music video, without contributing anything substantial to the conversation, and without it being conducive to a genuine dialogue about art and entertainment then sit down and keep your mouth shut. No one is forcing you to be a Lady Gaga fan. If you really hate her and her team so much, then leave this site and the fan base while you're at it, enough is enough.

You deserve 1000 likes because this is so on point. Everyone here is making a big deal and being overly dramatic. No one knew this pandemic would happen so of course this was gonna be a messy start but justifying her actions with various theories and reasoning doesn’t do anything and attacking her doesn’t help but add more un needed stress on top of already trying to get over this pandemic.
