How did they force you? Did they stop you from registering? Or maybe they were really sneaky and allowed you to register but then stopped you from voting? Was that it?

The fact is Bernie didn't get the votes. He received less support in most states than 2016

Huh? I am registered. I did vote.

They forced Biden down our throats by getting Klobuchar and Buttigieg to drop out and endorse him on the eve of Super Tuesday... probably convinced Warren to remain in the race as long as she did. Guess what? There were MORE CANDIDATES to split the share of voters this time.

They forced Biden upon voters by consistently touting him as more electable and downplaying his lies, corruption, nepotism, numerous sexual assault allegations, and the damage he has directly  inflicted upon the working class - many of whom are probably Trump voters now - through his very own policies.

Not to mention the way the media and DNC successfully twisted the healthcare conversation into the “they want to take your healthcare away” talking point and infusing it with this false idea that we cannot afford the program. Give me a ****ing break.

This is precisely why people say Democrats offer them NOTHING. This way of thinking. Meanwhile Trump at least offers them LIES and propaganda.

Hey guess what we had a primary and Bernie didn't win so now we're all coalescing behind the nom because THE STAKES ARE TOO HIGH

Bernie supporters are tryna to pull some 2k16 vibes saying they won't vote for the nominee, and yet they wonder why the Dem party isn't eager to accept them into the fold

That's not how society works :toofunny:

If it gets worse, it just gets worse. We don't need to go down to go up. People don't need to lose rights like protection from discrimination, healthcare, religion, etc to somehow gain more rights when those are reinstated.

Biden (and the establishment/administration he'll build) is the only answer for now.

We believe different things

Its unlikely the democrats are gonna get a majority in the senate from the 2020 election. We have 2 whole years until the next senate/congressional election and 2 supreme court justices in their 80s (one well into her 80s and with major medical complications lately), both which are on the "left" side of the court...The court right now stands at a 5-4, if trumps gets just 1 more justice, a 6-3 majority will hurt the country for more than 40 years.

I understand wanted to stick to your principals and not support a center-candidate who doesn't share all your views but i dont think this is the election to try to stick it to the man and break the machine.

Idk what this rant is because NO ONE mentioned not voting for Biden or Bernie.

What I stated is a common complaint from normal people who say the Democratic party offers them NOTHING. And the notion that “he’s not Trump” is just not enough for some people. How about we GIVE people something to vote for? I can name so many things Trump promised off the top  of my head, nobody can name any Biden policies. Trump knows how to market himself and knows how drill ideas into people’s heads easily. I have yet to meet anyone who can say what Biden will do for the American people.

Obama had children separated from adults. They were in those holding facilities for a very short amount of time. They had medical care, good meals, recreational activities, etc. while the government was looking for relatives to place them with.

Biden believes in climate change. He will recommit the US to the Paris Agreement on climate change. He won’t gut the EPA, like Trump is doing. Trump and Biden are miles apart on this issue.

We know, you are voting for a third party person. You have every right to do so, but if you are going to keep announcing it as some proud declaration in every thread, people are going to state their opinion on that. If you don’t want opinions on your vote, you could simply keep it to yourself. The only person in that booth is you. Instead, you want to proclaim loudly your vote and the complain when others are “shaming” you for your vote.

Not everyone on GGD participates in every political thread. People like you and others with whom I’ve had contentious debate with for over a year certainly do know my point of view and my intention at the voting booth. Others, may not. Also, telling me to keep my opinion to myself so you don’t have to respond to me is only giving you the satisfaction I’m all too eager to deny. As it is, I’m just as entitled to have an opinion and post it as you are. When I proudly declare how I feel, I have always provided an alternative solution (DNC choosing unity candidate) it explained why I feel the way I do. For whatever reason, so many people on GGD seem to believe that Trump is the only problem we have and that somehow magically Joe Biden who hasn’t done nearly anything right while working for government institutions for a lifetime is suddenly going to be this savior that will backtrack everything Trump done. With regard to climate change, again, Biden’s plan doesn’t save the planet. The end result is still the same. We should not be accepting any politician or policy that is short of saving the planet.

Voter shaming doesn’t work.

Voter shaming isn't a thing. Stop trying to be the victim every time you get the chance. Should I pull up all the Trump voter shaming comments y'all give @hankhatesyouall everytime he posts about Trump?

It works both ways.

Vote shaming is a thing.

A contentious debate on values is a thing.

@hankhatesyouall has some ludicrous ideas about what a socialist economic system is but is 100% entitled to their opinion and vote.

Vote shaming is not a thing.

The histrionic behavior that lends to the victim mentality that some Bernie supporters display is a thing.

Like calling a woman a snake is totally ok but acting super offended by the term Bernie Bro because it's somehow mysognitic. <---- super histrionic.

Keep it.

She's for universal healthcare, she just thinks we need a transition period and is open to non single payer healthcare. You are aware that most of the UH in the world is not single payer?

I can not believe some of you all believe in acceleration theory. SMDH. I really hope some of you are like 19, because it's f*cking insane otherwise. I suspect Bernie would be so disappointed in some voters for going "let it all burn on the off chance a socialist paradise will emerge."  Even Chomsky said voting for Biden is the obvious choice—Noam f*cking Chomsky—is he a "neoliberal shill?"

I'm not a fan of Biden (I wanted Warren) but I voted for Bernie. But Biden got the coalition, he won Black voters by large margins (and that is on Bernie's campaign), and he won Latino voters or came close with Latino voters in several states even if Bernie had more of a margin there. He also won every county in MI, is doing well with the white suburban ladies, and is winning over the white working class. People want him for some reason, and 20% of the party trying to hold the remaining percentage hostage—instead of negotiating to try and get some more progressive policies—is just going to alienate people instead of helping us build a bigger coalition. Biden needs to make large overtures to progressives, but we also need to be able to negotiate instead of going f*ck you, I'm sitting out.

Anyway, if you live in a blue state feel free to vote your conscience...but if you live in a swing state you d*mn wel deserve to be shamed for not voting considering RBG is on death's door & the choice will be between another Sotomayor (if Biden is elected) or Gorsucsh (if Trump is re-elected). We can kiss goodbye to gay marriage, abortion, etc. if the latter happens.

F.ucks sake America.

You've done it yet again.

Tbh though Bernie is probably pulling out because the new president is gonna have a complete MESS to clean up after the Trump administration and poorly managed covid19 situation. Cleaning up that economical mess is gonna be impossible and whoever goes into the white house next is starting a losing battle. You know that if Bernie got in it would be impossible to fix, and he would get dragged to hell and back for not being good enough.

That being said, Biden won't be doing any good. You guys are screwed and I feel bad for you :smh:

I hope Gaga is secretly giving Biden that good good so she can call him up in the middle of the night and influence all of his decisions directly.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Policies

$15 minimum wage

Expunging the record for people who have pot convictions, and decriminalizing pot (progressives should push him from decriminalization to legalization)

Abolish the death penalty

SAFE ACT

Investing a lot of $$$$$ in HBCUS

Public Option, with an eventual goal of universal health care (no guarantee of single payer UH, tho)  (we need to push him hard on this, too)

Get back in the Iran deal (a major issue)

Agreed to adopt Warren's bankruptcy bill

There's a lot more...this is just a few off the top of my head.

Biden sucks, but people are justifiably frustrated when some say he's the same as Trump (who thinks climate change is a hoax & almost started a war with Iran among so many other horrific things). Trump is a literal fascist, and as terrible as Biden is he's not a fascist. As a progressive, it's also frustrating to see people go "well, I just won't vote" because that doesn't help us negotiate at all...instead, it just alienates a large bloc of Democratic voters we do need to win over to make a broader coalition. It's especially irritating because we could say "we'll vote if we live in a swing state, but we won't endorse/campaign/support/canvass/etc., and Joe needs all that help, unless we get some compromises on the table."
