She can play the piano and the guitar. - All Too Well, Last Kiss, Enchanted, Call It What You Want, period. - Not quite. - 7 million off Fearless, 6 million of 1989 in US alone, only solo artist to hit 1 million last year, recently the only album in the last 3 years to hit 1 million in its first week. Taylor is phenomenally talented and a brilliant, brilliant pop star (my second favourite to Gaga, lol) - but she does not have the same, cultural significance as the artists on the list do. Taylor, as much as I absolutely love her and her music, is a 'safe' artist. She is not groundbreaking or re-defining in any way. That doesn't take away from her talent or her career, though. She will certainly be in the top 10 - but 5 or 6, no. subtext / fantasy

Writing the bridge in 30 seconds flat with Jack Antonoff, peak writing ability I'd say I really like the voice memos she did for 1989. I loved on how she incorporated the ballpen ting on Blank Space. Bitch, that was genius. The heartbeats on Wildest Dreams tho, wish she had a voice memo for that. I'm like some kind of supernova

Killa 17,456
For me the first popstar like we define now was diana ross. In the rockn roll era there was elvis, we could go farther back but makes no sense. Then there was tina turner, MJ, madonna Too early to tell about gaga. She def be there, i think if she has just another hit like shallow and an iconic movie. Just one is enough. Ill consider her a legend for sure
xoxo Craig 55,649
Nah I think its too early to put Gaga on your list @OMonster. Yes she has been around for 12 years but she has accomplished SO much in her career. She is it, she has the full package End Racism Now

AsleepOnTheCeiling 6,257
Although he's considered Rock and Roll, I think Elvis deserves an honorable mention. He did play with pop music and technically it's "popular music" and he defined an entire generation. He brought dancing to the GP and is basically the first person to successfully sell sex. People even go as far to say his music helped the Civil Rights movement.

KindnessPunk28 1,506
LOL at people saying Taylor Swift should be on the list . If that's the case you need to add Shania Twain since she laid the path for today's female country stars to even have a chance in the pop world.
