I think it's fair to say this virus is a little worse than swine flu

 

But I agree. It's very obvious the real death rate is much lower than the official rate because mild cases are much more likely to be missed and not confirmed/tested which distorts the numbers... And the media which thrives on drama conviniently likes to avoid mentioning this important detail

If we didn't try to slow the spread and 1.2 Billion also got infected the deaths would be much higher

 

U can't compare the total deaths of the regular flu which we let run its course to a virus we're taking measures to significantly reduce infections

 

The regular flu kills like 0.1% of infected. The lowest estimates for corona are much higher than that

But 800 people died in New York in 24 hrs this week from a new thing , a virus that didn't exist before. 

If we can do something to stop this new thing and not have another 800 people die tomorrow and the day after that, I think we should try...

I wouldn't be surprised if it will be the same thing with this. But if this will be the case here, someone must pay for it. 

I already saw some talk that the deaths for other causes are down.

The Swine flu pandemic in 2009/10 killed around 12k Americans.

COVID-19 has definitely killed at least "a fifth of what influenza kills every year."

Stop blaming the media for your own ignorance. It'll only kill more people. Why do you enjoy that?

Who is even overreacting? Statistics are being reported. If you can't stand for that then I suggest you don't listen to any news. Because the adults are the ones trying to get this curve down.

Hence the point of educating people of how serious this can get. That's what statistics show right now and it's obviously hurting many areas of the country. So it's better to be safe than sorry.

 

Honestly, if y'all are so comfortable with this being a non-issue then go ahead and get cozy with people at the store or feel free to sneeze/cough in public areas without using precaution.

And that's on top of people already going to the hospital for other complications as well. We need to protect our health service personnel. Unfortunately people on this thread would rather seem that suffer and laugh at the disease.

The death rate is what it is because we're in the beginning of this virus. Once a year passes and we have millions testing, THEN we'll see a more accurate death rate. But we can only see the data for what we have now. 

People love to blame the real data. But if they think it's false, then they need to blame Trump for not getting enough tests to show off their precious 0.001% etc death rate. 

This isn't rocket science. You cannot show such drastic data until enough info is collected. It's basic knowledge and yet people are trying to use this as a way to downplay the seriousness of people dying. We're going to be passing 20k deaths today. And that's alarming.

Lets educate people on how the MSM works, how private corporations who's stock prices are surging due to "Covid19 treatments" benefit from this panic, and how trade deals around the world are benefiting from this panic.

HIV only killed about 16,000 people in the US last year, so should we stop promoting safe sex, screening blood donations, and stop treating it?

I mean, it killed fewer people than the flu, right?

Come to think of it, the flu killed more people than gun violence did, maybe we should lift every restriction on them too

Or maybe those numbers are low because of the precautions we take and the same goes for covid-19
