Britney Jean Original Concept Appreciation Thread

So a lot of us may know about this tweet.:

Britney Spears began recording for Britney Jean in December of 2012, though unfortunately like with Femme Fatale and Circus (to a degree) she did not get the concept that she wanted. In May of 2013 will.i.am was made executive producer, changing everything. I have even seen rumors that Britney left recording studios out of anger in protest, allegedly being the reason for Myah Marie having to take over on certain songs. In this thread I will try my best to give a taste for what Britney herself wanted before her label stepped in.

Note: These were intended for Britney; just because she wasn't singing does not mean that they were not intended for her.

Here are some of the songs.:

"Spell"

"Ten Seconds"

"No Title" (Most likely not the actual title, but I am unsure.)

"Cocaine"

"Feel Me Up"

"Lips"

"Exhale" (I am about 90% sure this was for the original concept, but there is also a possibility that it may have not been.)

"Old City of Mine"

This is a concept beat by Danja for the original concept.:

"Zombie" (Cover)

Spoiler

Now, here are some songs that made it on the album that may have at first been a part of the original concept.:
1. Alien (Probably.)

2. Perfume (Hard to tell, but she said that she liked this song. Then again, will.i.am is a producer on this song.)

3. Tik Tik Boom (Hard to tell because of what I said about Britney allegedly not recording out of anger earlier.)

4. Passenger (Same as above.)

5. Don't Cry (Has some sounds like the original concept, but also has will.i.am as a producer.)

6. Brightest Morning Star (Maybe.)

7. Hold on Tight (Possibly.)

Now it is important to remember that few songs from the original concept have leaked, so this is most likely not a full list. It really is a shame that she did not get to go along with the original concept; it potentially could have been among my top albums from her.

Discuss.

She surely had plans but her awful team probably recorded and released Britney Jean in a rush so she could promote the residency and an album at the same time :rip:

Only just listened to “Spell” and I’m so mad that Britney never gets creative freedom. I can’t find the words to express how amazing she would be if she was just allowed to do what she wanted

The way her label threw away so many good ideas that were literally her own and actually good. This mess has been going on since Original Doll.:awkney:

My favorite thing about Spell is that you can tell where the dance breakdown would have been. :bradley:

I’ve never been all that familiar with Britney’s music but the story of this album is fascinating to me. It’s crazy to me to see just how much a label can change an entire direction of someone’s music like that. Obviously I know it happens, but this kind of major shift without the artist being the one who decides it is crazy. I know Gaga fans talk a lot about how the label has made her change things (such as IWBWY / Dope) but I’m glad Gaga at least gets to make her projects with her heart and soul in it and is allowed artistically to make it exactly what she wants it to be.

She kinda had full creative control on Glory and that’s why that album is her best album since Blackout.. I’m so ducking sad that we probably won’t ever see her perform or release new music again.. She just seems like she’s done with it all.. :bradley: How I wish to see her back one day..

Same thing happened with Femme Fatale. Granted it ended up being massively successful singles wise, it was intended to be much more R&B oriented until her label brought will.i.am on and he changed the whole direction of it. It's sad her label does this because the albums she has more input on, ITZ, Blackout and Glory, have ended up being her best.
