I know people dont care about polls anymore, but Biden is polling better than Bernie f.y.i.

So, atleast at the moment, I dont get the claims that Bernie is the stronger candidate against Trump.

In 2016, Bernie polled better than Hillary. But Biden polls better than Bernie now.

My argument here is simple. People do prefer Biden over Trump more than Bernie. It’s not a huge variance and within margin of error but that’s what polls show. What polls do show is that people are less enthusiastic to vote for Joe than they were for Hillary. And Hillary lost. Joe may be more electable in polling because it’s a no effort game but Joe will underperform his polling because people aren’t going to go to the lengths they would for someone like Obama/Bernie to go out and vote. The voter enthusiasm AND general election polling are important as well as policy and current economic indicators. Joe is gonna to rely on anti trump anger in order for people to go out and vote and that’s a risky game when’s trumps base is fired up.

Polls are polls. They told us in 2016 that Hillary would be win by a large margin. We have to stop thinking the way we thought about politics, electability and polling the way we always have. Post-Trump is a new ballpark. We don't know if Biden is actually stronger because we haven't even seen him debate Trump, but something tells me someone who calls himself an O'Biden Bama Democrat and thinks he is running for the US Senate won't fare well in that arena. Bernie has more Latino support, youth support and does well with Independent voters, all key demos needed for a Democratic nominee. Biden's support is super unenthused and vote for him out of the illusion of necessity, not real passion.

Just to clear something up, right before the election in 2016, polls had Hillary winning the popular vote by about 3 points, She won the popular vote by 2 points, so they were pretty accurate. State polls were pretty bad though, i'll give you that.

Hillary lost for alot of reasons. And I think a lack of enthuisam is certainly one of those reasons. But we cant ignore that James Comey reopened the email investigation right before the election. Hopefully something like that doesnt happen to Biden.

He wasn't the only candidate that wanted to deliver those social programs.

Good God girl.

It's eerily similar to Trump's comment of, "I alone can fix it."

That alone make everything in this comment complete nonsense.

Also, you guys completely trashed the other progressive candidate.

I'm getting this tattooed across my forehead. You summed it up perfectly.

Biden does well with the female vote, the African American vote, blue color workers, older Latino vote, Florida Latino vote, Midwest vote and all older people, all key demos needed for a Democratic Nominee...and demos that will actually show up to vote on Election Day.

Biden’s support came out, stood in line and voted for him. He had high turnout in several of the states he won. The moderates were coming out in record numbers.

Bernie’s people are very enthusiastic on social media, they love to argue and give their opinion, but then don’t show up to vote.

Biden has the kind of enthusiasm that actually counts- people who will show up to vote!

Well I'll bookmark this post for November. Something tells me this broad coalition is going to fail the O'Biden Bama Democrat running for the US Senate. Trump is on lock for another term. I've accepted it. Joe isn't it, he never was, he never will be. Not when he is a stuffy old stooge who says medicare for poor people is an affront to his dead son. May the guilt fill everyone who turned their back on Bernie Sanders.

The only thing we have when the day is done is our ethics. If we compromise them when they matter most history will not look back fondly on us.

I told a Trump supporter and two users who have spent years blindly attacking Sanders and supporters like myself on this site, grasping onto any credible challenger to his candidacy that came along in an effort to stick it to people that they hated on the internet, to rot in hell (and I'd do it again!) because I've debated these people, attempted to convince them, made my case relentlessly for a year only to be insulted, mocked, and met with bad faith nonsense and disingenuous talking points. Those people are lost causes and they've made that clear a million times over.

I realize that you genuinely (and hilariously) seem to think that "sad" reactions are a form of violence, but those people have been attacking the one candidate that wanted to deliver the same social programs to the United States that every single industrialized country on earth already has, to deliver a climate change plan that could prevent the world from falling apart when we're on the verge of climate catastrophe, to try to save millions of students and sick people from drowning under mountains of debt that they'll never be able to cast off themselves. They trashed that person and those ideas relentlessly; I reacted "sad" to posts that I found especially egregious on a Lady Gaga forum.

The fact that you've felt the need to chime in and chide me and other Sanders supporters like a condescending school-marm for months, the fact that you felt like THAT was how you should spend your time, the fact that "uncouth" behavior inspired you to jump into these conversations rather than the need to push back against these dishonest actors is... "sad." I guess "sad" would be the way I'd describe that reality. :rip:

Please, relax. Don't tell people hateful comments like "rot in hell," which is not only rude and hateful but adds ammunition to moderates and conservatives who pinned Bernie supporters as hateful people on social media who alienated enough people to make them vote for Joe Biden over good, old, honest Bernie.  That is what Warren and other pundits used and it worked.  I understand what Biden is accused of, seen what he has done, and won't be voting for him either on that account.

However, acting hateful pushes people away even if your candidate was Mother Theresa,  Stephen Hawking, or the Dalai Lama as it undermines their good causes and intentions.

So please, for the love of God or humanity, when the next progressive candidate comes along, tone down the language and channel the passion in a positive way so people actually enjoy being a part of it.

And do not start arguing with me, enough has already gone on in this thread alone and people know has gone on in the past. This isn't to just you but all Bernie and Biden supporters and even Trump loyalists, enough of the hate and verbal abuse, please. Focus on the issues and candidate's policy and performance.

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

Voting is every American citizen's constitutional right and a private right for them, hence why voting booths allow for discretion.

However, candidate policies, actions, or speeches are allowed to be scrutinized in political discourse.  People will differ on many issues, values, or standards.  At the end of the day, people need to remember to "agree to disagree" and let it go. However vilifying, gas-lighting, or hateful comments need to stop.

Let us remember how to be civil, keep our level heads.  There are billions of people on the planet, perhaps millions who use the internet everyday, so we're bound to encounter differences. We need to learn how to coexist one way or another.

When you see abuse happen, please report it.

Does this extend toward people who are Nazi or ISIS supporters? Or is that another thing?

Pointing fingers is easy. Everyone needs to do their part to exercise personal responsibility.

It's seems Americans are still not tired embarrassing themselves. Not that it's surprising since there are also millions of people in USA who seriously believes creationism makes sense.  It's too bad that republican and democratic propaganda machines are so powerful. They are true threat to democracy. Sanders was the only candidate with consistent and sensible policies. Now Americans have to choose a corporate hack with suspicious background (Biden) or a trainwreck (Trump) - and the rest of the world keeps laughing at Americans.
