I don’t understand how they keep saying it’ll get worse but won’t institute a nationwide lockdown or closure. :wtf:

My reply didn't post yet cause they're also blaming Italy. But anyways, you should read more about the possible benefits to those currently in power... blue states the hardest hit? USPS to shutdown because of funding? Postponing certain events and campaigns leading to November 3rd? Not possible to vote by mail under a national lockdown? My hearts is with the public as they are just in the middle of these power moves.

You're confusing Trump being an opportunistic fascist with Trump causing the covid outbreak. Blue states tend to have the highest population density so they're hit the hardest. They also contribute the most to the GDP(California by itself has a higher gdp than many developed countries), a world where they're kept down is a world where the economy doesn't recover. It just doesn't hold up to logic.

then how the hell did she lose 2024 if she handled this so well?!

Edit: TBH Selina gets too much hate...I think a real-life version of her would be seen as incredibly competent and would've served 2 full terms.

good question! maybe it can be attributed to something like the phenomenon of trump's boost in the polls after his inept response, but the opposite for selina: her unpopularity simply continued steady on lol

96% of Americans are under some sort of stay at home order already.

Most states have called for their own stay at home orders.

I think the federal government doesn't want to get involved because they don't want to be directly blamed for tanking the economy.

Enchanting

I really hope that the number of deaths is much lower than that. This whole month has been awful and I just want things to go back to normal. :bradley:

US didn't take it seriously at first...China didn't take it seriously at first...Europe didn't take it seriously at first...Japan  didn't take it seriously at first...That's why this is happening. It's a lesson that human should learn from. But the good news is that China and SK are having control while Italy is turning stable. US will get to that point sooner if the government takes stronger force, and some strategies are working right now. So...stay home and hope for a better future.

Quite frankly many people (myself included) didn't take it seriously when it first appeared. Lots of folks just blew it off as an "exaggerated flu" and thought the media/medical professionals were blowing it out of proportion. This lack of awareness resulted in a superbly horrible reaction to the virus. Despite some governors acting quickly, it wasn't quite enough; the damage was already done. We are entering the darkest of times in regards to COVD. But as they say, it's always darkest before dawn. The next month is going to be truly terrifying.

The media shares some blame for this

If they didn't constantly sensationalize everything for ratings, people wouldn't be as skeptical when something actually is serious to begin with

We shouldn't compare this to 9 11 or Pearl Harbor. Compare it with other diseases. It will put in perspective this situation. Of course, everyone should stay safe and do what they can to limit the spread.
