I mean they are good but not THAT good.. For example I think Gaga's videos from Just Dance to MTN **** on Katy's but Gaga has served some really bad videos since so idk.. Honestly, yea. I miss pre-ARTPOP era. ARTPOP was a real mess, concept wasn't that focused and I'm not blaming Gaga. She had that fibromyalgia, the outpouring of hate from everyone including her monsters, the drama with Troy and the collabs with the most problematic people whom I won't even mention. C2C was the start of the rebranding but we lost that rockstar image that were so present in her MVs pre-ARTPOP. I don't mind how she is now. But her iconography with music videos has gone down the drain. The last best MV that she served was John Wayne which I liked very much. It just wasn't on par with her videos pre-ARTPOP. But the Joanne interludes were awesome though. Much better than John Wayne MV.

Delaney Elias 1,318
Let's not fight over anything. We should agree that they are both extremely successful, unique, talented, beautiful young women. Delaney

Same. It's soo good, especially considering it was her directorial debut. It was so heartwarming, honest, and autobiographical. Plus the fire was REAL! It would be interesting to see what her music videos would be like. Also I am wondering what Jack's videos would be like. Now I'm sad we don't have these. elijahfan 26,275
The fact her label consistently puts money in her videos doesn’t mean she’s revolutionized anything in the medium. To be pretty honest, there aren’t that many trailblazers out there in terms of music videos, and since they have to give an award to someone every year, yeah I guess she could get it I’m on a Gaga forum so of course I’m going to be biased in some capacity, but I seem to remember Gaga kinda revived the concept of music video event, or music videos as short films. Not to mention she’s been notoriously boundary pushing in what she chose to tell and portray. Now if this doesn’t deserve a Vanguard award, I don’t know what does. HookerOnAChurch 6,786
It is undeniable that Katy's videography is very accurate and her aesthetic is, in some cases, better, but let's not forget that many Lady Gaga video clips have literally revolutionized the concept of music video, as happened 40 years ago with Michael Jackson and shortly after with Madonna. Lady Gaga's videos have left an important mark in pop culture. Katy's videos are pleasant to watch from time to time but on a cultural level of artistic impact in the pop world they do not have the same weight as Lady Gaga's videos. Plus, Gaga directed many of her videos..
KingRedd 3,139
What’s this consistent thing I keep seeing with Katy? She’s always had great and fun bops and some fun videos but for Gaga fans to literally discredit Gaga’s work, which made her a huge artist and made every pop star have to step up, is cringe. Most of y’all seem to take the 3 Gaga videos you don’t like and deem that as the reason why Katy is deserving... which makes zero sense. Gaga’s videos were artistic and out of the ordinary. Katy’s were fun but never as artistic. To simply say Katy is more consistent is strange when her videos aren’t ever an event. idk just disappointed in some of you who discredit Gaga like some haters do lol if her fans base doesn’t think she deserves it over someone like Katy then Gaga will never get it 😂 May I Read You? 😎

Landon 41
Roar was shot with a green screen and had no choreography, she relies on humor to entertain. Applause was so creative and new, true art. I can’t believe roar did better. Justice for Applause.
MelbHawker 6,583
They both deserve to be honoured given their successes. But to say that Katy's MV's are better than Gaga's .. no. That's like saying Katy's a better vocalist than Mariah.
Yxcvbnm 839
I don't agree, Katy should be on a maternity leave. At home. And Gaga, I think, from 2008-2013 her videos, visuals were the most iconic, groundbreaking masterpieces that time. A Gaga video release was a bigger event, than a Nicki Minaj album release. But after, she made horrible, almost disgusting (lol, just kidding (not, but should be kind())) mvs. What is G. U. Y, PI, MR, JW isn't that bad, but looks cheap as HELL, Joanne is Cute, but not for an A list Artist who's famous for her visuals,(Shallow was created for a soundtrack) and now, the second worst one: SL. nowadays, it would be unfair to give her this award. Even Madonna invested more in her recent videos.
dit 46,474
I kind of agree because her consistency is a lot better than Gaga in terms of visuals. But Gaga's highs are so high that they sort of counterbalance her many lack luster mvs.
ArtpopAct2 2,672
Hell no. None Katy’s videos aren’t as deep, provocative Or a avante-garde as Gaga at her best. They’re pretty and funny but that’s about it. It also always feels like she goes the easiest route. Roar? Like a tiger? Oh ok video in a jungle. Swish Swish? Easy. Basketball court. ET? Just serve space visuals with no story. comapred to Gaga who made a cute pop bop like Telephone a prison-break revenge mini movie, Born This Way with this whole cosmic sci-fi angle about creating a whole new race, and of course stuff even more creative than those like GUY and MTN.
