Forbes' early Grammy predictions for ROTY; Gaga included

Most Likely

Half of the shoo-ins for a Record of the Year nomination (at least on my list) have reached No. 1 on the Hot 100, and the rest have at least broken into the top 10. Chart-toppers like Post Malone’s “Circles” and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” were well-received and successful, while Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” is simply too big to be ignored. There are usually one or two tracks so massive that voters feel compelled to select them, and it seems this time around, Ricch’s breakout cut fills that spot.

Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber’s “10,000 Hours” and Maroon 5’s “Memories” are both likely going to earn nods, as will whichever single Billie Eilish selects to submit, be it her standalone cut “Everything I Wanted” or her Bond theme song “No Time to Die.”

Possible

A number of other top 10 hits could also easily snag nods, depending on what else is released before eligibility closes later this year.

Selena Gomez and Harry Styles may be on their way toward their first nominations for their hits “Lose You to Love Me” and “Adore You,” respectively. Also a maybe for Record of the Year are Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now,” Eminem and Juice WRLD’s “Godzilla” and the revamped, re-released “Good as Hell” by Lizzo and Ariana Grande. All of these tunes have different factors in their favor, and any of them could be chosen by voters.

There’s A Shot

There are sure to be a number of hits pushed between now and September that deserve to be nominated, but looking at what’s available now, it’s also possible that BTS’s “On” (with or without Sia, depending on which version the septet delivers to voters), Lady Gaga’s “Stupid Love” and Future and Drake’s “Life Is Good” may earn nods as well, though their chances don’t seem as great as titles mentioned above.

I'm sorry to break it to you guys but she doesn't have a chance at ROTY, at least not with Stupid Love. Rain On Me I think would have a chance at taking ROTY or SOTY

Just the fact that Gaga and Ariana Grande (one of the most popular pop stars right now) are in it means it will be a hit.

No it doesn't

Ariana just collab'd with Lana and Miley and it's the biggest flop ever

It was a song for a flop movie and miley & Lana are not as musically relevant as Gaga.

also you have to remember that DCMA was clunky as hell, whereas gaga and Ariana will be more in place with each other so it’ll resonate with people more

a #13 hit is "the biggest flop ever"?

BTS’s “On”

If Boy with Luv didn't get a nomination for Pop Duo/Group last year, that means there's only 10% chance. Love them though.

I mean, with the critical acclaim that MOTS:7 got and the huge praise for their live performances recently in the west, I could see them possibly snatching a nomination in a pop category like pop vocal or something, but I do doubt a ROTY/SOTY nomination very much.

It's a shame because if they were western artists we know that even if they hadn't won, they would've been nominated A LOT so far and I could've seen them taking at least one best music video Grammy if they'd been nominated AND judged fairly

Stupid Love will not win 100%... I think Don't Start Now has the highest chances of winning - it is a smash hit thats actually really good, it has a strong female singing it, Dua is a rising star, and its coming from a fantastic album. All of these are things the Grammy voters love
