Stupid Love: a future sleeper hit - but why are GP doing her like this?

So we all know that Stupid Love is the ultimate, grower, as opposed to a song like.. Hotline Bling or Shake it Off (massive showers)

But.. why does it have to be like this... why is the song not smashing straight away?

I have no doubt that the GP will eventually say yes, but the song is all but in a deep coma. Its not just U.S. either... take it a look at it's Swedish chartrun

In fact, dare I say, if it wasnt for radio agreeing that its alseep rather than dead, it would've done exactly the same as Perfect Illusion.

 

SO - Why do you think the song is suffering this uphill climb with the GP in sales/streams?  (better on itunes but that's a dead format)

Stupid Love is still very stable on radios and had a top 10 on most of big countries. It's doing very fine. I could see it grow. 

When a song as zero potential it's crashing on radios very very fast (see Perfect Illusion)

Peaks defintiley arent everything - we didnt close the thread when SL hit #5 for example, but it was a cute moment

There's a story beyond the peak. the story is that she's most definitley sleeping...

It’s just the timing. If clubs were open, it could’ve helped the song so much just like Just Dance back in the days. Most people aren’t actively listening to a club banger in this time of pandemic. And Gaga herself abandoned the song. No promo from her.

Of course but a #5 peaking song with a good trajectory on radio which will make it chart for at least 20 weeks and which is yet to fall below #30 on Hot 100 is far from a flop. 
And if the callouts are good, it’s gonna serve more longevity than we think.

Sad fact, but it's true: This song is her worst lead single ever. Not even a single worthy song. I'm not suprised that it flopped everywhere
