Pop has become very cheapened by people trying too hard, and trying to chase the next big shiny penny. 
Instead of actually making good, fun, well-produced POP songs.

And I'll throw this in here: Paris Hilton's Nothing In This World is a MAJOR pop song for these same reasons. That's all.

It was a different time. This was before social media. Nowadays talk is cheap, everyone gets praise for doing anything, everything everyone does is iconic. People exaggerate for LOLs and likes, believing their own hype.

But rewind to over ten years ago and it was totally different. Everything just flowed in the 2000s. Communication was more natural and honest. You needed talent as a given, but also charisma and a sense of showmanship. Everyone today hides but back then there was nothing to hide behind, it was all about coming out of your shell and celebrating your individuality.

People today seem lost, and it’s reflected in the music.
