Coal... well... I have to smile bc you seem to know a bit of what I mean. I honestly don’t know why people are voting for Trump - other than him running as a fake populist in 2016 (never drained the swamp), his charm being so strong on people that they don’t wanna switch, and protest votes against voting for corporate politicians (who have taken over the Dem party, and have been kinda cancelled in the Republican party - even more so in this crisis.) I think the only thing he has to run on is Joe’s shortcomings, and he’ll bounce to the left of him on economics, which is extremely problematic for Biden. He won’t have the economy bc it’s in shambles rn - and he’s partly to blame. I don’t even know if I wanna watch a kind person like Joe Biden get bullied to all hell in he general debates since Trump can bully his way out of anything - and Joe Biden is literally saying sorry for attacking Trump live on TV The right are gonna win so badly chile... GregJA 5,531
It’s pretty obvious trumps winning re-election how about they just focus on getting someone for 2024 and stop messing around making fools of themselves now. I know many (here) don’t like Trump but you have to be realistic - Bernies not going to win nomination, even if he did Trump would still win as most will stop the socialist, Biden is not going to win the election (he doesn’t even know he’s running) and there’s nobody else. so find someone with ideas and popularity and run them in 2024 Mr. No Award Winner 2020
HorusRa2 5,005
Also y’all need to understand that “progressive” does not mean “democrat” a public option that does not actually bring down costs and a plan that fines you for not having medical insurance is not “progressive” and nobody, not even Pete, can “alter the messaging/packaging” to change the basic truth. A progressive idea is universal healthcare. Not universal coverage. Coverage and access does not mean the same thing as having healthcare services available regardless of your income. Bernie is not a socialist and for many leftists is a compromise choice in the first place. In other words, he is not left enough (almost exclusively on foreign policy). It’s the most energized and activist part of the Democratic Party. Trump and Biden are 2 sides of the same coin. Trumps administration, however, is worse in some ways than a Biden administration would be especially on social issues but by and large the economics of both would fundamentally do the same things (I.E. enrich the donor class and crumbs for working people). People don’t vote on ideology alone. Majority of democratic voters prefer Bernie’s policies but voted for Biden anyway because he has been perceived as the so-called electable candidate. The point of a democracy is having exclusive choice on who you want to vote for—calling people ignorant and childish because you don’t like how someone exercised their god given right to vote shows that you are the childish one in the first place. Maybe y’all should figure out that insults and vote shaming isn’t exactly a exemplary form of persuasion to appeal to disillusioned voters who support Bernie. Also, it must be acknowledged that both Bernie and Biden have very long opposing records and votes that show that from an ideological standpoint the two are on two different sides even though they are technically within the same political party, which I should remind you is a private corporation that can do whatever it wants. And again, there is no way in hell im going to vote for Joe Biden. Tea this is getting pretty predictable and tiring. At least I won’t bamboozled when Trump secures the second term bag. I’ll probably be depressed but not surprised. Trying to make people on here relate and I think I’m doing well, but I said stan progressive networks for a reason - it’s a way more effective tool and finally put into proper context the CNN world view I only knew for years and how it didn’t match up with reality sometimes. The future is looking very rosy 🌹 tho so there’s no reason to never care again. That’s the wave.

Who said "progressive" means "democrat"? And let's not pretend that this wasn't the most progressive primary ever. Like, you can try gatekeeping progressivism and defining it in your own terms but objectively even a public option is the biggest reform to the healthcare system in over 50 years. Progressivism is about social reform. It's about equitable and sustainable development. That's why it has the word "progress" in it and that's why these 15% supporters in question need to get their priorities straight because voting for Trump at this point doesn't bring about any progress. It scales it back. Why does this even need to be explained? "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. They are my family, this is my home and you are not welcome here." Y’all should be asking yourself why YET ANOTHER “moderate” is NOT sweeping. That’s not correct. According to Politico, Obama also won 84 percent of those Democrats who backed New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in the hard-fought presidential primaries. Also, McCain =/= Trump. For a “progressive” to vote for Trump, is a giant leap. The moderate is winning because there are more voters that showed up to vote for him. The progressives didn’t come out to vote for the progressive candidate. He didn’t convince enough people to get excited enough to come out to vote.

Also, they like to blame the "corporate media" and other stuff for poisoning people's minds. Yes, Bernie's policies are popular but people are not voting for him. Why? Because he's not a good messenger and his politics are terrible. He never tried to expand his base beyond the 30% support he had. They like the message, they don't like the messenger. That's why they didn't vote for him. But sure, it's always the voters who are wrong and dumb and whatnot. It's never your own candidate who doesn't make an effort to reach out to the broader, center-right electorate. So tired of these old, recycled, blame-everything-else-but-Bernie arguments. False, SC votes for Tom Steyer went backwards at one point according to Lora Chamberlain, election integrity officer. Biden somehow miraculously won Texas despite lagging severely until suddenly all of the new votes went to him. Not to mention polls in college towns closing early, people waiting in line for seven hours, the dnc refusing to postpone dates until after the worst of COVID-19 has passed, putting millions at risk.
