I think it got harder and harder for her to sing the songs in original key. Before 09 she has some great just dance performances but needed full play back. When she started performing song again in 09 she lowered the key of the song and sung a lot lower. I think that was the only way for her to keep a strong voice, and not use playback. She just love changing her voice, an act for her ego and character, a part of her outfit and appearance. in Born this way era she sounded so deep and dark voice, however when she did her Simpson voice acting she brought back her The Fame voice again.
