Noir 17,446
Gaga was the first imperial phase I ever witnessed and I'm still in awe by all of these years later. I remember watching Pussycat Dolls on Youtube and 'Just Dance' would autoplay next and I'd get so annoyed, but I haven't looked back since. Whilst most popstars hype seems to last for a year or so before somebody replaces them: Halsey, Camila, Ariana and now Dua for example - all of whom are big now or have in the past few years blown up, but no one ever seems to come close to the hype and hysteria around Gaga during 2008 - 2011. The lucky thing with Gaga is that even when the hysteria ends and her career has dipped (2013 - 2015 felt like a dip for me as a fan), she always has her mega talent to rely on. Even if the GP doesn't eat it up, she puts her heart and soul into it. Music, fashion, acting, design, philanthropy, make-up e.t.c., whatever Gaga does, she will pour her heart and soul into and so that talent, determination and passion is always there. That in itself to me is star power and that doesn't seem to be there for everybody. It always seems that some singers are reaching for their next radio hit or biggest video on YouTube. That doesn't seem to be the case for Gaga. Gaga pushes for what not only makes her happy but what she thinks will help her fans and what she thinks will help heal others and this is so rewarding to watch. ASIB was sort of like a second imperial phase, but obviously much shorter. Still without all of the acclaim and success, her performance and contribution to Bradley and the film was outstanding. She put everything into it, despite some fans claiming it "a cute side project" at the time and pushing for her to focus on The Cure, for example. Regardless of the astronomical success and acclaim ASIB garnered, Gaga delivered an incredible performance for her first feature gig and dreamy soundtrack to match. That is magical enough.
