FfFfFfFF 58,120 Posted March 29, 2020 Share Posted March 29, 2020 A unique gold ring that’s hundreds of years old has been unearthed by an amateur metal detectorist in Warwickshire. Guy Gordon was searching land near a manor house when he found it on pastureland, buried about seven inches deep in the dirt. The find is thought to date from between 1650 and the early 1700s and it’s inscribed with the words ‘fortunate if favoured’. The British Museum said there’s been no other ring with that inscription, making it one of a kind. Experts believe that it would have been used as a wedding ring. “I was excited when I found it. It was buried about seven inches deep in the ground. The signal was low. I found it on pastureland in Warwickshire .
