I think that Gaga is always held to a higher standard than most pop stars and this a both a good a bad thing. For example many fans and critics have been comparing Gaga to Dua Lipa’s recent release and most of this comparisons are not favoring Gaga. Yet, if Gaga had released an album like FN it would probably not be acclaimed because it would be to basic for her or it would be too similar to what has done before. But when Gaga tries something unconventional or new people say that Gaga is not being honest or true to herself. The bottom line is that it is very hard for Gaga to win. I guess people realize that Gaga is very talented and that is why she is held to a higher standard, but this also ruins her acclaim. And the fact that Gaga changes very quickly in terms of her artistry leaves people polarized and divided. Someone like Dua Lipa is only expected be a be a regular pop star that appeals to young people and that is why minor experimentation gets her praised.

Chromatica will most likely be more ambitious than FN and yet it will probably get less praise.

I said it in another thread but let me say it here again. Gaga's not a new singer. She's already built a career, a fanbase, a strong reputation as a singer and an artist so she doesn't exactly need to go impress everyone. That's not the case with Dua, who's only starting her career. Of course she'll gonna release an album that'll impress everyone because if you're starting your career with floppy stuff, you won't get anywhere. So the critics are yeah that's a great album for a relatively new singer like Dua.

Listen, yes she is. But what can you expect when you go from just dance )revolutionary pop bop) to poker face ( tops just dance) to bad romance (a complete shift in gears in dance pop) to telephone ( pop perfection) to born this way ( another complete gear shift in dance pop) and edge of glory, to ****ing applause ( underwhelming and a retreat in sound arguably) to million reasons ( country pop for a dance pop crowd?) to shallow ( best ballad she’s ever done). 
 

She sets the standards for her own music. 
 

Irs the fact everyone praised and went crazy for stupid love, honestly when it leaked half the world was like she’s back to poker face Gaga level of bop. But stupid love had been out for almost 3 months and counting folks. While others under her level drop bop after bop after bop. There’s a reason people are like girl? 
 

SLOVE is a bop, but a big portion of her audience had it for a month. Don’t act like that didn’t affect it’s impact. Had it dropped on 02/28 with the video and nobody heard it you could have expected that same praise or more it got in Jan when it leaked.

I'll be more than happy if Chromatica sounded similar to FN (same quality) but judging by SL so far I don't think this will be the case.

Gaga is held to a high standard yes, but she would have received the same praise Dua got if she released FN, it's objectively a good album and there's no two ways around it

I think that FN is a good album but Gaga has gotten less praise for better music.
