Because you said she "saved" pop music, when I can guarantee you that if Katy or Britney hired a bunch of songwriters and producers to create that exact same album with their voices on top, you wouldn't have been impressed.

It's all in the presentation. Dua comes across as the next hot thing now. But other pop stars have been doing her disco throwback act years, even decades ago. There's nothing unique about this record other than the fact that some songs are excellently produced. So how is that "saving" anything? That's like saying a well-executed new burger at McDonald's saved gourmet burger cuisine.

We've had excellent pop albums over the years. Think Art Angels, Magdalene, Titanic Rising,... Those were albums that pushed the boundaries and offered listeners something extremely fresh, innovative and irreplaceable. I just find it shocking that so many fans and critics push this very well executed but fundamentally unimpressive album way past its deserved accolade limit.

No, if Britney or Katy made an album this good then I would say the same thing, maybe even more praise because they are very big stars who have a lot more influence. So no need to put words into my mouth.

She is saving pop music in the sense that she is making people dance again and creating fun club ready bangers that are actually very well crafted. I haven't heard such fun songs in a while. At least in North America, where I live, hip hop and trap are still the mainstream noise and mainstream pop is weak. Dua Lipa is a rising star and I think she has the potential to bring this fun pop back into the mainstream.

I love Art Angels and even Charli by Charli XCX but I wouldn't classify them as rising mainstream stars. They are more on the fringes and I think they are okay with that. I don't think they are aiming for massive commercial appeal. Dua Lipa is trying to become big so I applaud her for making a great album when she is trying to appeal to the masses. I do think Art Angels, for example, is better musically then FN but Art Angels was not meant to be a mainstream album. FN is AND it is a brilliant one at that.

I am so sick of people praising this album to hell, it's nothing revolutionary, simply a slightly funk-inspired very pop album.

For me it has 0 replay value, there is nothing genuine or spectacular about the lyrics, and the fact that the music is nothing we haven't heard before makes it nothing more than average.

I waited until today to listen to this album (o wanted to listen to it with my boyfriend). He was talking sh*t but actually expected to like some of the songs (he ended up disliking the album as he misses Indie Pop Dua).

Personally, aside from the singles, Hallucinate and Levitate, this album is pretty meh. I expected WAY more. (Break my Heart is meh too)

Religion is a product to sell.
