Singer and TV personality Francesco Facchinetti was seen intervening and defending the victim.[149]

Veneto regional governor Luca Zaia apologized after claiming that the Chinese eat live mice.[150]

On 8 March 2020, a Japanese restaurant in Rivoli, in Torino, Piedmont was the target of an arson attack by a group of teens who taunted the owners, calling them carriers of the epidemic.[151]

I would say that a lot of you do not have any understanding of Chinese or Asian culture. Unless you live or grow up within that culture, your visit to that country and experiences DOES NOT paint a full picture in regards to racism. 
 

While I now live in the UK, I grew up back in Asia, and am Asian with a Chinese heritage. (My great grandparents are from China). 
 

No matter how you see it, most Chinese people are inherently racist. White folks tend to find Asia a warm and welcoming place. My partner used to tell me about how great people are in Asia, and how genuine and warm they are as a community. That was until we visited together. He witnessed first hand how, despite in the same circumstances, we are both being treated completely differently. While I wasn’t treated badly in most circumstances, he was treated like a god. 
 

POSITIVE DISCRIMINATION IS DISCRIMINATION. In Asia, Caucasian features are the standard of beauty. White is beautiful. White is ideal. White is cultured. 
 

That however, does not extend to other races. Growing up, they were never explicit in saying that dark is dirty. It’s never darker skin are bad. But you learn to clutch your bags tighter when a black person passes by. To lock your car doors when you see a Pakistani. Or that Indians are uncultured and dirty. No, people don’t do that due to past experiences or crime rate statistics. People do that in Asia because it’s the norm. Because that’s what’s casually taught to us growing up. It’s a lifetime of “look at that shady black guy, most them sell drugs you know”. Or seeing your mother dragging your siblings across the street because the dark skinned person is walking your way. 

 

Racism is not outwardly taught in Asia, or in this instance, in China. It is something that is inherent and deeply rooted within the community. And white people do get negatively discriminated as well. Just not that blatantly obvious. A majority of Asians, especially the older generation, think of white culture as lazy and stupid. But that’s a whole other discussion all together. 
 

So I apologise for being harsh, but no. Your trip to Beijing is not indicative of your knowledge of Asian or Chinese racism. Just thought I should shed some light as an actual Asian person whom grew up in Asia.

You literally generalize a single person's experience to accuse all Chinese people/Asians of racism while in this special time there are much more cases of actual hate crime towards them.
