China's racism towards foreigners

I'm following this guy's videos for a long time now, and I really adore how he backs up his arguments with legit video proof.

In the current corona crisis i'm shocked how Chinese treat foreigners, it's pure racism.

Especially foreigners who live in China and have been in self-quarantine for over 14days like everyone else.

The scene at 8:35 where the woman has to stay outside of the restaurant while her chinese husband and child are allowed to eat inside. That's pure racism.

I'm sharing this because I'm interested in your thoughts, but also because I think this true kind of racism doesn't get any recognization in the western world, especially concerning all these extremely overly political correctness issues in the last years, many about "racism" that end up not being about racism at all.

Like every social justice warrior screams "bloody murder", but when there's legit "bloody murder"... silence and no one talks about it.

 

Before you comment, pls actually take the time and watch the video. Of course not every single chinese will be racist, but if people get denied of buying food at a supermarket for not looking chinese, if they can't eat inside a restaurant and need to stay outside for not looking chinese, if they can't do sports in a fitness club for not looking chinese, or they can't go to karaoke for not looking chinese, that's racism on a bigger level than just a few problematic individuals...

Also, this guy has lived in china for around 20years, he has a chinese wife, he speaks chinese extremely well, has travelled through RURAL china(instead of like most people only in rich cities) and met many friendly people. The last videos of him are pretty much a lot of critique, but not without reason concerning corona and how chinese government handled it. But overall he also says a lot of good things about china in his earlier videos. He actually got already problems for making videos that critizise china.

I've already been to China and Chinese folk has one of the most welcoming people in the world.
I don't like how the guy from the video is trying to make it look like the whole country is racist. There are shitty persons all around the world.

i havent encountered any kind of racism when i was in China, be it in huge cities like Shanghai or Beijing or in the most rural towns in Guizhou

to be fair, this is something he points out aswell (also in his older videos)

he has a deep love for china, but he also likes to give critique where it's deserved.

 

Also, you are from Belgium, so I assume you are caucasian looking, and he also says that chinese used to be very positive-racist towards whites, while being negative.racist towards dark skinned people

 

And this current critique is more about the current corona situation, where even caucasian looking people experience racism

In China, white people would be the minority, readily oppressed by an already oppressive government. Even if we accept your flawed definition of racism wherein you have to be institutionally oppressed for it to be considered racism, that still applies here.

I’m sorry but... you’re surprised? There’s such a disconnect between what Americans think China is like and what it’s actually like. They are so cut off from the world that it’s easy for them, as well as for America, to manipulate how their government is seen. I hear people defend China all the time. Ultimately it’s not the Chinese people, it’s the government. But that place is WEIRD and it certainly has effected the culture of the people.

Remember they had the one child policy, they have a social rating system that effects every aspect of a persons life, they’ve had leaders responsible for some of the biggest atrocities in human history. They constantly violate human rights and overall its a terrible place.
