But it is tho? It’s forgettable and blends in with the majority of pop albums. Except this one has disco vibes.

Physical is still one of the best songs of 2020 tho.

I have just listened to the full album.

Future Nostalgia - Great song to introduce the album

Don't Start Now - Absolute BOP

Cool - Love the 80's synths

Physical - Needs no introduction. One of the best Pop songs of 2020 tbf

Levitating - DO NOT LET THIS FLOP. She needs to release this as the 4th single

Pretty Please - That BASS

Hallucinate - Masterpiece. Best song on the album

Love Again - Very 70's Bee-Gee's disco

Break My Heart - The key change in the pre-chorus is EVERYTHING

Good in Bed - Extremely catchy! Reminds me of a Lily Allen song

Boys Will Be Boys - An underlying POWERFUL message. Must listen

THIS ALBUM IS EVERYTHING

In my messy era.

Except it's currently the third most acclaimed female album of all time on metacritic tho?

It's obviously a tad overrated, but it wouldn't be getting all this praise if it were forgettable and blended in. Mainstream pop in 2020 sounds like Ariana mumbles, Billie ASMR or even worse, mumble rappers.

Future Nostalgia may have its faults, but it's throwing pure pop back into the mainstream and everybody should be thankful for it for obvious reasons. Which is why it's making me scream that everybody is so pressed :rip:

Yezzz I understand why many don't like it especially how it is a little weird with the whole album's sound but personally it has that Lily Allen/Kate Nash/late 00s UK sound that I find nostalgic, underrated, and love

Also not to mention:

Ugh it is so Lily Allen tho. Cutesy, cheeky, a bit sexual. I love it

Well yes, it’s all subjective in the end. But whew the third most acclaimed female album on Metacritic is truly so mind-boggling. I know opinions are opinions but I just can’t see it. But welp, I think I’m just a little pressed bc I expected a lot from this album.

Addison Rae

I’ve been kind of ignoring her because she’s having a moment right now and seems extremely hyped, I generally prefer underground pop artists except Gaga.

I’ve liked a few of her songs in the past but I’m not a fan of her dry vocals. I’ll give the album a chance.

It must be extremely hard for Dula Peep to carry the entire pop music industry on her back this year :vegas:

love the album, think it’s amazing and I will be nonstop bopping to it

HOWEVER I can’t help but feel that Ms Carly Rae Jepsen got here to this sound first (and did it even better) with Dedicated Want You In My Room GIF by Carly Rae Jepsen

1. Future Nostalgia: 3/10 - I hate the talk singing, it feels very forced and try hard and doesn’t suit her. The chorus is cute I guess.

2. Don’t Start Now: 6/10 - I liked it when it came out, it’s not terrible but it’s not amazing either. It was so overplayed on the radio here so I wouldn’t choose to listen to it.

3. Cool: 9/10 - I LOVE this. It feels like a Katy Perry song but better. I’m obsessed with 80s inspired pop instrumentals like this, it sounds good with her voice!

4. Physical: 4/10 - Not a fan.

5. Levitating: 0/10 - This is horrible.

6. Pretty Please: 2/10 - Sounds like a Selena Gomez song.

7. Hallucinate: 5/10 - It’s cute, nothing special.

8. Love Again: 1/10 - Uninspired and sounds very 2015.

9. Break My Heart: 3/10 - I hate the drop, I’m not a fan of that melody and it’s just not it.

10. Good In Bed: 2/10 - Feels dated and I hate it melodically. It feels very Meghan Trainor.

11. Boys Will Be Boys: 5/10 - I like some parts of the melody and the message but some of the writing is kinda clunky.

Overall the album is a 3/10, most of it sounds very filler and try hard to me and I’m just not a fan of her voice at all.

I guess I can appreciate she’s trying to be edgy and “bringing back” a particular pop music sound (even though Carly did this sound a LOT better), but she ruined it with the 2015’d dated fillers that make up a lot of this album.

I really like Cool though!

Having stanned Dua from pre-DL1, it’s so crazy to me seeing all you gays praising her :messga: so happy that she’s finally getting the recognition that she deserves and is considered a MPG. We love growth :lolly:
