Why do people keep comparing Gaga with other popstars

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Stupid Love wasn't this strong single that everyone wanted. While I think it was cute, I have no doubt that the rest of Chromatica will follow out Gaga's vision. People are just starved for new PC music from Gaga especially, and I think people had their expectations too high.

I think Gaga holds a lot of mindshare for people when it comes to pop music, so she comes up when people discuss her peers. And then if they weren’t super massive fans of her recent work, they’ll exploit it to make a larger point. It’s kinda harmless, and if anything proves that Gaga’s pretty inevitable in any conversation about pop music. Kinda fierce actually

Because people like to start s*** with other fans about this person is better than this person, AKA they like to start pissing matches. I just wish we could all treat each other right, including Gaga, she's human too.

Because it’s 2020 and we’re comparing what we’re seeing now lol. No one is saying Dua Lipa is a better artist than Gaga or that everything great Gaga has ever done suddenly is erased. Gaga is an ICON but there’s no doubt that Dua’s current work and even The Weekend’s current work are superior to what Gaga has been bringing at the moment.

Well then when you compare them, you clearly ignore the factors that I mentioned in my post which, I believe, have a big impact on the work. And I'm not pointing at you specifically but there are defo some people who said nasty stuff about Gaga bcs stupid love is not as good as Dua's songs x

I think this is the biggest thing, considering lots of stan culture is Twitter-centric, attitude included. The anonymity of Twitter and forums allows people to start stuff while not giving two f**ks about anyone else.

Because Gaga is the bar. She is a fixture.

The Pop stars she is compared to come and go over the years, but Gaga remains “the bar” that they are compared to.

Because Gaga is an easy target, she's an icon, so it's just easy to trash her.

The comparison with Dua was really unnecessary, tbh it was not a comparison it was just a "btw" that was used to trash Gaga, because the journalist hates her..

But what is more sad is that some fans are falling into these traps and starts to hate the other female artist for no single reason.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Idk about you but I always see people compare men too. I see on rap forums all the time.

So it's not a sexism issue :fail:

You’re making it deeper than it really is. I see people comparing Ed Sherran and Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson all the time. It’s the music they make and nothing more. It’s easier to compare celebrities to people with success, I don’t understand what people don’t get about this concept.

I wasn’t tryna make some social commentary about sexism, I was pointing out that Gaga is always compared to other women in this industry on this forum :green:

which isn’t very Hey Girl of the fandom :green:

I'm sorry but I SWEAR the same people in this thread who say they're fed up with this concept be the same ones voting in twitter polls and liking tweets by monsters shading other artists, but I digress :trollga:

Face it. Y'all only mad when LG isn't the #1 pick, since day 1. Alexa, play Did It Again by Shakira

Because people have nothing better to do than pit successful women against each other. The stan mentality is so toxic and aggressively guilty for a lot of it regardless of the popstar. We’re supposed to be unique fans and embracing kindness and compassion 24/7 yet all I see are threads about Gaga didn’t do this right—Dua did it better, or Billie performed this way—Gaga should take notes. List goes on and on. I swear some people around here need to go knit a sweater or run a few laps around their block. S*** is so old.

The comparison is ridiculous even if Dua is serving more then Gaga.

Gaga is Gaga, point blank period! Don’t compare her to generic pop stars

It's just the usual cycle of comparing the new girl with the established one. Most of the time it's pretty baseless, like... I can understand some comparisons being made between Gaga and Ava Max, but listening to Dua Lipa, there's literally nothing that is remotely reminiscent of Gaga's work, except they're both doing pop and they're successful at it.
